Been through both of them, and still have the problem. microsoft and
slipstick both refer to explorer 6 and 7. I am running explorer 8. sony

associated with an unknown and I changed that to explorer but still could

We have a client that is getting the following message when trying to follow a hyperlink in an Email:

"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."

We use Outlook 2010 on PC's running Windows 7 Enterprise. Both are 32-bit versions.

Initial search turned up article 310049. It is exactly what we are experiencing. Unfortunately, the Fix It does not recognize Outlook 2010 so we cannot use it. The IE 8 fix did not help. My PC does not have any problems with the link, so I did a registry export following the provided instructions. The import of the key also failed to help on the affected PC.

The question is, what now? I'd rather not re-image a PC for something that may recur. Or is there an update to Fix It 50388 that recognized Outlook 2010? Any ideas would be helpful.

Thank you for your time and efforts,

Hi, when I click on a link given in any emails I have recieved the message ‘This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.’ comes up.

If anyone can tell me how to change this I'd be most grateful.  I'm trying to access software I've bought for work and it is a headache now...

Hi, I keep getting the message, 'This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact you system administrator.' When clicking on a link in an e-mail. What do I do so that I can access the link?

P.s I'm using Outlook 2007, with Vista basic.

"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

This is not a networked computer, just a personal standalone.

Why would I get this message and how do I get rid of it?

Every time I try to open a link in Outlook 2010 I get the following message:

This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

I am the administrator of the computer, and it is not connected to a network. I have already tried reseting Internet Explorer 8 and setting it is my default browser, but this does not work. I also repaired the Registry key that is supposed to be connected to this problem, but that did not work either. How can I fix this?

I have been using Windows 7 build 7232 for some time now without a problem.
However, Outlook 2007 now will not let me open up a URL from within an email
even though this has worked previously. I get the error message "the
operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer".

I have tried the usual IE reset process but this does not work and I can
confirm that the registry does not have an entry here:-

HKEY_Local_MachineSoftwareClasseshtmlfileshellopencomm and

can anyone please tell me how to resolve this problem?

Outlook 2007:  Cannot open links in received emails.  Get error message of "The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator".

I have tried reseting my internet options to default and this did not work.

I can forward the email to my AOL account that I access on the same computer as the Outlook and it works fine.

Suggestions?

Thanks
