configure outlook 2002 with hotmail

I have been trying to link my hotmail account (free version) with Outlook
2002. I know that is has to configured as a POP3, but do I need to download
anything else?

I have tried numeous times, followed the instructions as far as the info to
input in the email settings, but it is still not working. After inputing the
info when I hit "test account settings" error messages are popping up for all
except "establish network connection." It says, the internet connection was
found, but errors for everything else.
Log into incoming mail server: The specified server was found, but there was
no response from the incoming server

Find incoming mail server: unable to connect to the incoming server.

Find outgoing mail server: UNable to connect to the outgoing mail server.

Send test message: The specified server was found, but there was no response
from the server.

I have entered the correct ports (tried all 3 (25, 587, 995) for the
outgoing and 995 for the incoming.

What else could be causing this?

Help please!!!

I have configured Outlook 2002 to work with MSN mail as a POP3 account,
checked Log on using Secure Password Authentication and have mail setup
checked to send/recieve when Outlook opens. When Outlook opens it does not
perform send/recieve untill I click send/recieve button, it starts the
send/recieve, then the SAP Log In window opens, I click OK and the
send/recieve completes. Why do I have to manually start the send/recieve to
get the SAP Log In??

Hi,
Is it possible to configure Outlook 2003 with GPO. I want to automatically,
configure server name & user name for MS exchange when new user log into
domain first time.
Regards

I am trying to configure Outlook 2002 to work with a brand new hotmail live
account?

I set up the profile and account correctly, it just does not seem to work.

Any help?

I am using Outlook 2002 on my system with my mail service being AOL. After
installing software, I cannot get the send and receive button to work in
Outlook. Every time I press the button, a message "operation failed" is
displayed. I'm not sure what I overlooking in the configuration. Any
suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Greetings,

When I setup any user in Outlook 2002/Exchange Server 2000
configuration I key in a FQDN name for my mail server and
then key in the user name. When I click 'Check Name'
button, the exchange server name changes to the netbios
name of the server. This isn't really a concern for
internal users but for mobile users I need to use the FQDN
name. The only way I can get mobile users to work is to
add a hosts entry for the NETBIOS name with the IP of my
external DNS entry. Of course once the mobile user
connects back internally the host entry has to be removed.
I have a split DNS setup (Internal/External) and proper
name resolution is occuring. I can ping etc.

Any one have any ideas?
.

I recently installed outlook 2002 to my new PC running XP and added my
"Hotmail Account" as a HTTP Mail Account.

When I tried to access this account, I got a pop up message box titled:
"Internet Explorer Script Error"

and the information in the box says . . .
-------------------------------------------------------
an error has occured in the script on this page.

Line: 15

Char: 1

Error: Permission Denied

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

clicking Y or N does not make any difference.

I am using IE 6 along with a pop-blocker.

In KB892448 "When you use Outlook to delete Hotmail messages or MSN
messages, the deleted messages do not appear in the Trash Can of the
Hotmail account or the MSN account" it states: "In an Outlook profile
where there is no Exchange e-mail account, the Hotmail e-mail account
or the MSN e-mail account is the primary account. Therefore, all
deleted messages are sent to the Deleted Items folder of the
appropriate account. This behavior occurs regardless of whether the
account is a primary account or a secondary account."

My question is: How do I set up an Outlook profile with no Exchange e-
mail account? I need my Hotmail (MSN Premium) account to be the
Primary account (the only account for now). I also do not need
connectivity to MSN Explorer, and would rarely if ever access my e-
mail via the web. I just want Outlook to be my only PIM.

Thank You,

Hi,

We've been having this issue with our clients that reply to a Hotmail address.

Clients are using Outlook 2002, with Exchange 2000 server.(Windows XP SP3
Workstations) We're able to reply anytime we want to yahoo or whichever mail
account. Our server guy confirmed that there's nothing on the server side
that would filter this.

Actually the problem seems to be mainly with Word as the editor for Outlook

Error Msg:"This form requires Word as your email editor, but Word is either
busy or
cannot be found. The form will be opened in Outlook editor instead."

-Note that when we change the editor from Word, to say WordPad, the problem
does not persist. (but of course most of our clients prefer to use Word as
editor). Our workaround for the moment is simply to copy the body of the
emails and create a new email "chain".

This only happens when replying to an Hotmail account, does anyone have any
idea why this is happening systematically? has anyone ever seen this? we've
tried on numerous computers with still the same results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you can direct me to somewhere
which could help I'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks!

I have Exchange 5.5 with mostly Outlook 2000 clients. There is one Public folder that contains all the contact information. Several Views are defined to filter the contacts. The Views were created from Outlook 2000. There is one Outlook 2002 client it can use most of the Views but one will not allow the user to use it. Any thoughts? Any known issues with Outlook 2002 and 2000?

Thanks for any help.

Hello:

I have seen that, using an MST file, one can have Outlook 2002
automatically connect to an Exchange server using %username%, etc.

Can this be done after the fact? That is, I already have an office full of
computers with O2k2 installed. However, everytime a user logs in on a
different machine she needs to setup O2k2 to see the Exchange server. Is
there a default setting that I can modify (registry?) for this purpose?

Thanks.

I don't know if this post is in the right thread, but I need to know the best method of configuring outlook 2002 clients and export the .pst files into exchange.  Currently my company is using internet mail with the exchange implementation pending.  Thanks in advance.

How can I request read receipts on an individual message basis when using Word as the editor?

I'm using Outlook 2002 with SP3. When using Word as the editor, I am unable to request read receipts for individual messages. However, I can access and configure Tools, Options, Email Options, Tracking Options to request Read receipts for ALL messages.

Within an individual email the Tools, Options menu has no Tracking section, only a Track Changes option, which is for editing change tracking.

Hi, I just got an Ipaq pocket pc which came with outlook 2002, but I'm
having the hardest time trying to synchronize it with my laptop which has
outlook 2003 on it, help anyone... PLEASE

Periodically, when I sync my Outlook mail with Hotmail, it locks up. I just
AT&T DSL.

Maureen,

First I'd ask if this situation only happens in Outlook or if Fonts appear
larger in other applications. If someone set the Font size in windows to be
larger then it would look bigger to your user but not the people recieving
it. Font size is set in the display properties. Also when you're drafting a
Text only message the size that it shows in the message window is not
relevelant since there is not formating.

I have a new desk top PC using Vista Home Edition and Outlook 2003. I cannot
sync my (HP iPAQ hx2400 Pocket PC - Win. mobile V. 5.0) with Outlook 2002. No
error messages. I am using Windows Mobile Device Center. Sync Center says
"last sync successful" but calendar, tasks, notes, mail etc. not updated
between desktop and pocket PC.

Sometimes, but not always, when I print out an email, the header imnfo does
not print, for example... My Name, FROM: SENT: TO: SUBJECT:, etc.
The page prints out with just the message. I am using Outlook 2002.

Thank you.
