Outlook 2010 is not deleting mail from my server once downloaded

I just up graded to Outlook 2010 from 2003. In 2003 once I got my mail (POP3) it deleted them from the server and saved them on my harddrive. My email server only allows a small amount of storage. How do I change 2010 to not save to both my harddrive and the email server.

Thanks
Steve

I am moving to Windows 7 / Outlook 2010 computer from a Windows XP (sp3) / Outlook 2003 computer. I configured Outlook 2010 to receive mail from 2 accounts. One (the default). is a POP account and the other is a G-mail IM AP account (in 2003 this used to be a POP account). When I configured the G mail account I let Outlook find and enter the settings. I ran the “Tests” during this procedure and both send and receive TESTs apparently “passed” for both accounts. I also confirmed that the G-mail settings were correct.
However, when I run my on tests (sending E mail on the new computer from each account to the opposite account) I find that I can not get the Outlook 2010 to receive E-mail from the Gmail account (it does not even go looking for it).
My older computer is still active so I see that my Test E-mails are being revived by the Outlook 2003 application (all tests were sent a revieved using both accounts), but not by my 2010 application. Is there some setting I am missing new to Outlook 2007 / 2010. What am I missing ? Is this a IMAP issue ?

If there is a thread covering this let me know

Thanks

Is there a setting where I can tell Outlook not to delete mail from the
server after downloading it? Can I set a time frame for it to do so?

Thanks, Bob

After years of proper operation, suddenly my server is not sending mail to my
inbox...I can read it on the server, but there has been some change to the
password that I don't know....or know why it happened...

How can I start the server sending my mail....my OE is unable to fetch it
from the server anymore...how can I correct this?

Thanks.

How can I set up outlook to receive the e-mails from my employees

Hi

What can i do to fix it?

Accidentialy and permanenetely deleted mails from my inbox .Any chances of recovering the mails.please suggest at the earliest.

Until today, Outlook 2010 was working great but this afternoon I recieved
a message from my email provider saying that may inbox on the server was
full. I checked and all the mail I had recieved for the last three days was
still on the server. I delete all the mail on the server but after reciever
a dozen or so more emails I decided to check the server again and found that
once again the emails had not been deleted. Is there a setting in Outlook
2010 that mail have changed that needs to be reset to tell it to delete the
files from the server when the download is complete?

Thanks,

Is this was covered in an earlier Thread I would be happy to read through that bthread. Thanks

Didn't work for me ... did all the same things you did, and now I can't
receive mail in my default account, except on Outlook Express.

I have Outlook 2010 with Business Contact Manager installed.  I've also tried it w/o Business Contact Manager.  The problem is that after I download email from a pop3 server, Outlook doesn't tell the server to delete the message still on the server.  I have to use html to go to my email server and delete them manually.  I cannot find an option "leave a copy on the server" that I can turn off.  Can anyone help??

I have been using outlook for many years and am fairly knowledgable about the
functions. I however have been having a problem lately, when outlook
downloads my emails from my company server, it does not delete them from the
server so I end up with 10+ copies of every email in my outlook. In my email
account settings, I have checked the advanced tab and the leave a copy of
emails on server box is not checked, therefor it should not be leaving a copy
there. As I mentioned, I have been using outlook to manage my email for at
least 7+ years and I have not made any changes to my email account setup, but
for some reason for two days now it is not deleting the emails from the
server and this has never been an issue before.

Thanks for your help.

Outlook has always had a problem with deleting mail from the server. In
Outlook 2007 I have it setup to delete email from the server, once I empty
my deleted items folder as I need to receive email on other computers.
Sometimes it gets deleted from the server sometimes it doesn't, very
frustrating. Is there a work around for this or an add-in for Outlook which
actually makes this feature work?

Thanks,
Martin.

Hi,
All of a sudden my exchange box is not getting mails from some domains. Nothing was changed on my end. I rebooted the server, I can telnet from outside, the processer is at avg 5%, I have avail memory, event logs are clean. I can get any emails from yahoo.com, uk domains and some others. I can get from google.

I also checked if the server as blacklisted. It's clean.

Please advice.

My exchange server is not receiving mail from certain domains. I tested external mail extensively from different hotmail and yahoo type accounts and most of our external clients are able to e-mail us. There are approximately 3 domains which are not able to e-mail us. It doesnt appear to be a name resolution problem as our domain can be pinged from there location. the message in the queue states that 'connection was dropped by remote host' and there is no domain blocking going on. Also I can send mail out to them, but inbound mail is not being receievd..help!

Hi All,
I am facing a serious problem.I am receiving mail from almost all domain but not from some. My exchange server 2007 SP3 is not receiving mails from some domains(I can send mails to those domains).

I have a user whose Outlook is removing his mail from the server when it
synchronizes. He is using it in cached mode, so from what I understand, this
should not be happening. Any ideas?

The options in Outlook Express allow one to delete junkmail from the server
without downloading it. I cannot find the same option with Outlook. Does it
exist?

I am using outlook 2007. My problem: when I delete an email in outlook it
does not delete it from my mailbox in aol. Yes, I do run "Purge in all
accounts" after deleting my emails.

Help

I have set up gmail as a pop3 account. and I would like to set this computer
to check email but leave the message on the server so I can download to
another computer at a later time. I set it up to leave mail on server under
email accounts under the advanced tab. But when I check email it deletes mail
from the server.

When I download messages from the server using outlook 2010, I delete most of them, however, outlook does not delete these messages from the server. My server is roadrunner.com and when I log on the web mail of roadrunner.com, it down load hundreds of messages dated back to several days. Is there any way to instruct outlook to clean messages on the server. Thank you.

Hi, I am using Outlook 2007 beta and I am finding that I can't receive mail
from my domain mail server but I can receive mail from ISP mail server.

I have setup the accounts and tested them, can see the test email on the web
server but when I do a send/receive all mail I see from the details box that
it checked the mail OK but no mail was delivered. I know there is mail to
deliver from looking in the WebMail program in my domain account.

I have tried using the forwarding option from my domain to an account that i
created on my ISP mail and the mail is sent to that email address OK. I only
problem is my setting to deleate mail once I have read it dose not work so
the Webmail account fulls up ful and not does not recieve more mail. I have
to go into the account and manually delete it myself.

Any help will be greatly appreiciated as I have spent hours tring to fix this.
