Restoring email after reverting to original program settings

I recently reverted my computer back to its original programming. Before I
did this I ran the Files and Settings transfer Wizard (twice) copying files
to an external drive.
After loading the Office 2007 programing back to my computer I found that I
no longer had my previous emails and address book.
I was able to import my address book from my iPod but have had no luck
finding previous emails.

Is there a chance they are still there or did I erase them for good?

I accidently restored microsoft outlook 2002 to its origianl settings which

Hi all,

We're trying to email a hyperlink to a program file on a persons C: drive
which by itself works fine. But when we append a parameter in the form of
http://website.com then it thinks the entire link is a website and chokes.
What we're trying to do start a Citrix ICA file from an email and feed it a
dynamic website. The full link is

"C:Program FilesCitrixICA Clientwfica32.exe" servershareIE.ICA
/param:"HTTP://website.com"

I want the link to be just as is but Outlook changes the backslashes to
forward slashes and generally mucks it up. Even when I manually enter the
URL. So my question is how do I pass this exact line as a hyperlink?

My second question is how to I get Outlook to stop it's complaining about
running a C:Executable.exe?

thanks

Pete

We have approx 16 users out of 95 with the above issue.

All users have XP Pro, Outlook 2003 connecting to Exchange 2003 in a Server 2003 Std domain. We don't use roaming profiles. Every few days or so, the new email signature reverts to none. The reply signature however remains.

Any help appreciated.

outlook defaults to outlook express; program defaults set to outloook
programs set as outlook express email only retrieves to OE

4 I am using Vista and needed to do factory restore on the cmpt. I followed
the backup and restore feature before I did the factory restore. I'm trying
to retrieve my emails and cannot do so. I've done the 'restore' and my
contacts came back but not my calendar info or emails. I found a file on
disk #3 with Outlook and .pst files (archive and Outlook). I've copied them
into another folder on the hard drive and then used the import function to
get them. Problem is they are emails that are 1-3 years old and nothing from
the current year. I haven't been able to find anymore Outlook files. Would
these older ones have been saved after the current one? I have 5 disks of
the backup (DVD) due to pictures so there are lots of files to look through.

Hi there,

We enabled "out of office assistant" to send auto-reply.
Internal users all OK, external users got problem.

Found that for those auto-replied emails, after submitted to categorizer,
they just gone & disappeared.

Using ESM to trace the email, it said
date, time,SMTP:Store Driver: Message submitted from store
date,time,SMTP:Message submitted to Advanced Queuing
date, time,SMTP:Started message sbumission to advanced queue
date,time,SMTP:Message submitted to Categorizer
(all entries with same date & time)

From application events, there is no entry at that particular time.

All queues on my exch2003 server are with 0 message.

Any idea what is the problem? Where to troubleshoot?
Many thanks!

-- This problem has started recently. When I recieve an Email, it is marked
as
unread. When I read the Email, it becomes marked as read. Sometime later, it
will become marked as unread again. The time is random, and the Emails
affected seemms to be random as well. Not all of my read Emails will revert
to unread, but just single Emails, even if in a group of emails. This will
happen in my Inbox as well as my deleted box. I am using Outlook Express 6.0
with IE 7.0 while using Windows XP media center. This problem is lless than a
month old.

Hi guys !

we are using exchange 2003 and on client its outlook when we move some email from inbox to new folder, its not visible. its show the numbers of emails in new folder.

I am new to Outlook. Previously, I saved my emails, after reading, to a zip
disk, in a WORD document, and organized them according to subject. I cannot
find a way in Outlook 2003 to do this. There is no "save" or "save as" in
the Files list; it is greyed out. How can I continue to save my emails as I
desire?

Hi Everybody,

A customer of mine is running SBS 2003 Standard w/ Exchange 2003 SP2. Each
user mailbox has two email addresses - firstnamelastname@domain.com and
firstinitiallastname@domain.com. Latter is currently the default email
address. Customer has decided that they want to use former as default email
address. As I typically would, I open AD Users and Computers MMC, open the
property sheet for any user object , go to Email addresses tab, select
firstnamelastname@domain.com address and click on "Set as primary" button,
then OK out to save changes. HOWEVER...the primary email address reverts
back to the original firstinitallastname@domain.com within 5 minutes.

What gives? Anyone seen this before? I sure haven't! Any help is
appreciated. Please post reply to group and reply via email.

Thanks in advance, and happy holidays -

I use Outlook 2003 SP2 running on Windows XP Professional.

When I am composing new email messages - in my default of Rich Text -
they suddenly revert to plain text, halfway through typing the
message. This also happens when replying to messages received in Rich
Text.

I do not use Word as the mail editor, and this happens to any and all
mail recipients - none are set up to receive mail in plain text. I use
AVG antivirus (which is currently not checking email), and Google
desktop is turned off in Outlook plugins because it was crashing the
program.

Sometimes, as soon as I press 'Send', you can see the message
momentarily convert to Plain Text just before it disappears.
Infuriating.

Any suggestions on fixing this behaviour would be gratefully
appreciated.

After replying to email I received, I want the OutLook to automatically
delete the email that I replied. Becuase I do not need that email any more
since the original content of the email is included in my replied email.
Anyone knows how to set this up? I tried help and search the site but did not
see how to do this.

Thanks

Outlook 2003: I get an icon flash indicating reciept of mail which are not
visible in the inbox. My original goal was to reset everything back to the
default setting. This problem started after I used the reinstall wizard in
the help section. I am able to send without incidence. Where oh where have my
inbound emails gone??? I know there hiding somewhere!

We have recently had some major drama on our new Exchange 2007 server after
a failed Service Pack install. This resulted in us creating a new Exchange
server (after manually removing the exchange entries from the AD). We have
the new server online, but are having issues migrating the mail from our
temporary POP/IMAP server.

We have been able to use the Dialtone restore for our previous info stores
and manually edit through ADSIedit the home server and address list
locations, so all users can now connect to their "old" mailboxes.

Thee issue is retrieving the emails that have been stored in the interim
period. We have installed the MS Transporter. I have created the CSV file as
defined in the documentation. I have used the powershell to assign the
Impersonate permission to 2 different users. Then added the mailboxes
through the Transporter. The entries appear there for our 40 odd mailboxes.
When I go through the process of migrating a single mailbox we get these
errors for each and every email message (regardless of size).

Warning:
An item has failed property validation and will be ignored.
Identifier:(Name:Inbox)
Error details:Required property is empty.
Property:TargetServer..

I have scoured the web for possible solutions for this issue. Most articles
refer to web.config settings in the IIS for either OWA or EWS. I have tried
these settings and got no different result.

I have also tried with a different user from the standard Administrator
account, with the correct group memberships and Impersonate permission
assigned. No difference either.

Another possible cause was listed as the self-signed certificate generated
by Exchange 2007. I have installed the server certificate in the trusted
root server certificate, and that made no difference to our issue either.

Can anyone else shine any light on this problem??

It seems strange the the Transporter does not consider this as a failure??
The program concludes that the migration process has succeeded !!

Many thanks

Brian

I was attempting to add my work email account (which is a MS Exchange Server acct) and in the process received a notice that I change where Outlook stores certain files.  I tried to back out without creating that email account but to no avail.  Now Outlook won't even start up.  I've tried going to the Control Panel to delete the exchange server account, but there' no exchange server account list - just the two POP accounts I originally had set up.  I tired a couple of restore points from last week, but the system had an error during the restore process and my files were not restored.  Now what?

Sometimes I change a subject on an existing email thread and drop or add
recipients. When I edit the recipients after changing the subject, Outlook
changes it back to the original subject line. I don't usually catch this
until after I've sent and then it's too late. :(

I understand it thinks it is being "helpful" by preserving the existing
subject but if I wanted to leave it as that subject I would not have changed
it to begin with!

Can I prevent this behavior? I have not yet found a preference that seems
to control this. Perhaps there is a registry entry for this somewhere?

I have McAfee Security Center installed with Outlook 2002. When I customize
the toolbars (e.g. put the McAfee toolbar above/next to the Standard
Toolbar), Outlook reverts to the default settings (Standard Toolbar above the
McAfee Toolbar) after I exit and restart Outlook. It is kind of frustrating
because I have become acustomed to the buttons/toolbars being in a certain
order.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am using IE6 with SP2 and MS Outlook 2003. When I click on any links in
Outlook emails, I get the following box: This operation has been cancelled
due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Also, some links in the main
Outlook program i.e. 'Check for Updates' on the Help menu, brings up the same
error box.

I have reset IE to its default settings, reset the web settings and
exported/imported a good registry key. I have also tried many of the fixes in
the discussions here but I am still getting the error.
History: I started using Outlook Express 6 to send/receive email after I
uninstalled AOL – it worked but I did not like the program so I removed the
accounts and installed Outlook 2003, which works very well except for the
'link' problem.
I have always been able to open links from the AOL email program and I can
still open any link in IE6 when I am using webmail.
I tried stopping the firewall (Filseclab) and the antivirus program (Avast)
but it made no difference.
Help - this is driving me mad - does anyone have any more ideas please?
Thank you

My Outlook 2007 email setiings are set to send mail in html, but sending a
link from IE 7, reverts to plain text so I have to reformat the message to
send in html and then hyperlink. I have checked every setting and can't find
a way to solve this problem. (OS Vista) Help.

In outlook express, when I clicked on some folders, nothing happened, no
email messages showed. There were new messages in those folders, however. I
messed around and all the folders vanished except the local and hotmail.

I managed to get them back through an import of backed up store folder, but
not all of my new messages were there.

I found that I had a newer backup of my store folder, but when I try to
import it, the folders I want to import do not show up in the import window.

I used a dbx extract program woe5extract and was able to find "most" of my
new messages, but getting them back to their original folders in outlook,
means opening them idividually and then moving them to the folder where they
were previously located.

Is there some other easier way to do this?

I also hope this makes sense to yawl

After a data loss the users .pst files were restored, and now any of the
restored emails open but show the complete html code for the email body.
Outlook 2003 will not pick this up and display it correctly using the Word
editor. All new emails received after the restore are displaying properly.

Opening, reading, forwarding the email just shows the complete text starting

and ends

These users have thousands of emails which they require to be readable, so
the solution cannot be to copy the code into notepad and saves as html,
although of course this works for one or two!!

Any help gratefully received.

For info the .pst files had to be extracted from the .edb files, whether
this stripped some rendering information I do not know.

Thanks

Hi there,
Does anyone know how to restore emails to the POP server?
Im pretty desperate after using the Office Outlook for the first time and it
deleting 1700 emails from my Yahoo inbox (including very sentimental emails
from deceased friends and family which I have kept in my Yahoo account for
years). I have them on my laptop but would really like them back on the
server so I can access them anytime and anywhere again.
I have put all the ones I want to restore in the same colour catagory but
have no idea what to do now or if there is anything I can do.
Please help if you can,
Thanks,
Rebecca
