We have recently had some major drama on our new Exchange 2007 server after
a failed Service Pack install. This resulted in us creating a new Exchange
server (after manually removing the exchange entries from the AD). We have
the new server online, but are having issues migrating the mail from our
temporary POP/IMAP server.
We have been able to use the Dialtone restore for our previous info stores
and manually edit through ADSIedit the home server and address list
locations, so all users can now connect to their "old" mailboxes.
Thee issue is retrieving the emails that have
been stored in the interim
period. We have installed the MS Transporter. I have created the CSV file as
defined in the documentation. I have used the powershell to assign the
Impersonate permission to 2 different users. Then added the mailboxes
through the Transporter. The entries appear there for our 40 odd mailboxes.
When I go through the process of migrating a single mailbox we get these
errors for each and every email message (regardless of size).
An item has failed property validation and will be ignored.
Error details:Required property is empty.
I have scoured the web for possible solutions for this issue. Most articles
refer to web.config settings in the IIS for either OWA or EWS. I have tried
these settings and got no different result.
I have also tried with a different user from the standard
account, with the correct group memberships and Impersonate permission
assigned. No difference either.
Another possible cause was listed as the self-signed certificate generated
by Exchange 2007. I have installed the server certificate in the trusted
root server certificate, and that made no difference to our issue either.
Can anyone else shine any light on this
It seems strange the the Transporter does not consider this as a failure??
The program concludes that the migration process has succeeded !!
