why is synchronizing so slow in Outlook Live

I am using Outlook Live and find that the synchronizing of my folders is
exceedingly slow. I can understand that at home (26.4 Kbps), but at work I'm
on a 384 DSL connection. Further, it is not uncommon to simply get "stuck"
at, say, 20 of 93 messages.

Perhaps related, perhas not, is the fact that when I send and receive on my
hotmail account, I get hung up at 99% done.

I think this was touched on in other threads but not really answered. I just
bought a top-end new laptop and also migrated from Office 2003 to 2007. I
notice when I'm typing an email in Outlook that the characters appear on
screen slightly slower than my typing (and I'm not exactly a speed-typist).
Sometimes, letters are skipped altogether. The 'Del' key is also slow at
deleting entered text (though 'Backspace' seems to function as normal). I
don't get this anywhere else, e.g. in Word or using IE - only in Outlook.

I'm a web developer currently building an HTML email for a client.

I just wanted to say that Outlook has ruined my day again. So now, once
again I'm trying to figure out how I justify to a client the hours I have
spent trying to get simple, standards-compliant code to display correctly in
Outlook.

I have a feature request: a Microsoft hosted page containing an official
apology about the rendering engine in Outlook that I can direct my clients
to, to save me spending yet more of my time explaining why Outlook is so
annoying and expensive to develop for.

Thank You

I wanted to add a signature manual while using MS Word as an email editor. It
was not possible and this was part of the HELP text I found when looking up
"Signatures".

When you use Word as your e-mail editor, the signature that you can manually
insert is AutoText that comes from the name and information that you typed
when you installed Microsoft Office. To view the information in Word, on the
Tools menu, click Options, and then click User Information.
When you use Word as your e-mail editor and you have Outlook automatically
apply your signature to messages that you send, forward, or reply to, the
signature comes from the e-mail signature that you created in one of the
following places:
In Word, on the Tools menu, click Options, click General, and then click
E-mail Options.
In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Options, click Mail Format, and then
click Signatures.

This setup is very limiting and stupid.

I don't just want one default signature for email. I like the other
functions in Word when sending Email. Why is the signature function so
limited?

I used Outlook 2003 again the other day and was surpirsed at how fast it was
at finding names in the contacts list compared to 2007.

In Outlook 2007, if you start to type a name and make a mistake and then try
to backspace to make corrections you can be faced with a 10 second wait.

What is going on? Do I have something setup incorrecly or is this a
"feature" of Outlook 2007?

Why is Advanced Find so incredibly slow in Outlook 2007 compared to Outlook
2003? I'm talking a factor of 5 mins vs under one minute I used to get for
a search in all folders for the same if not fewer emails.

We have a mixed enviornment, we are currently updating from 2k3 to 2k7, and I just started here a month ago or so, so they had already started when I got here.  Here is what we have
(All virtual on esx 3.5)
exchange 2003 server with a few mailboxes left.  It sends thru the 2k7 box
exchange 2007 with all roles (no edge, we use a websense product for filtering, and that acts as the edge)
Everyone is complaining of slowness in outlook.  I am new to 2k7, and not sure what I am doing wrong.  It constantly freezes or hangs, and people are complaining constantly.  The server is set with 4 processors, and has 6GB memory allocated to it thru esx.  I created 2 pagefiles, on 2 seperate disks for a total of about 8.5GB or so.  I need to figure out what the issue is, and I really dont know where to start.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I appreciate any help..

The reaction time of any text writing in outlook has slowed down, every
second word takes some time to appear on the screen after I typed it. What
can I do to change this?

Hi,

I read a post from someone else that is having this problem in Outlook
Express but I am having the same problem in regular Outlook (2003,
SP2, part of Office Pro 2003). When I send a message, it offers
spelling suggestions in French AND it won't let me set English as the
dictionary in the spell check box. After I sent my message, I checked
my Outlook options and it is indeed set up to spell check against
English (US). I have never had this problem before. Also when I
selected "New" to send that email, it gave me the dialogue box
"starting Outlook as your default email editor" which is odd
considering that I've used it for several years as my editor. Not sure
if these two things are related but am concerned that it might
indicate some sort of security or virus issue on my laptop.

Any ideas what might be going on?

Jodi

Sometimes, when I attempt to send email in Outlook 2007, it stays in
the outbox, and "microsoft office outlook is synchronizing folders"
appears in the taskbar, next to the outlook envelope icon. The
synchronization process keeps on going for well over half an hour, and
the only way I can stop it is to shut down outlook.

My pst file is under 200mb, and I regularly run scanpst on it to check
for errors. I have four POP3 email accounts, and I am not using
Outlook for RSS feeds.

I don't understand what exactly is being synchronized and how I can
stop it. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Mike

Look Microsoft....you are huge in the Messaging department of software. Why
are you so limited in Outlook to 1,000 auto complete entries in your NK2
files and why can't you figure out how to pull from Contacts in REAL
TIME...instead of having to "ctrl-k" all the dang time.

Heck simple phones these days query databases to pull from your contacts in
real time as you type.

Also why don't you develope a better system for NK2 entries. If it's a
database problem.....build a better database.

I can't beleive that from 1997 till almost 10 years latter you still
struggle with the simple aspect of auto completing addresses not only in the
NK2 file....but also from your CONACT address book (that is LIKELY CACHED ON
THE LOCAL MACHINE).

Heck, 3rd party PIMs with Exchange connectors do this...and thus why I am
recommending those over Outlook (saving money on licenses as well)....and
simply ditching more advanced but not used often features of calendar
comparisons etc.

The most imporant feature of a PIM (AN INFORMATON MANAGER) is to handle
contacts and recently used addresses in a LOGICAL way.

You have do not and the logic and limitations of your software has pushed at
least me away from using your product.

People are wondering with all the space, cpu power and time has Microsoft
yet to address an issue that has plauged Outlook for almost 10 years! Get
real!

pdf's opening slow in outlook.
i tried cache mode,deleted ie,rebooting.

anything else?
or re-create profile?

In Outlook's Contacts area, the buttons running vertically along the right
edge are not in english, making it difficult to jump to the letter you want.
It looks like they're in Greek or Russian or something like that. Everything
else about Outlook looks like it's configured for English. How can I chagne
the Letter Tab to use an English alphabet?

Can any one help me what is a distribution list in outlook

Windows 7 search is not finding content in Outlook 2007 PST files

Prior to upgrading this past weekend from VISTA Ultimate to Window 7 Ultimate, I could use the SEARCH function on my OUTLOOK 2007.  Now, I can only get retrievals of the current day's emails, and ONLY in the INBOX.  Any other folder, or .pst, for that matter, end with 'no results found'.  I can be in my INBOX and looking at an email received yesterday, type in a word from that email's SUBJECT, and get no results.

Any assistance to resolving this problem on a much used feature would be appreciated!!
