I'm using Outlook 2007 and IE. When I click hyperlinks embedded in e-mails I
receive, I get an error telling me that the operation was cancelled due to
restrictions on my computer, and to contact the system administrator. There
is no system administrator (only me!) and no restrictions I know of. This
did not used to happen, and still does not happen with e-mails received in
programs other than Outlook. Any advice?

Help! Just installed outlook 2010. I cannot access hyperlinks contained in emails. Even ones from my previous version ( 2003 ). Error message says " This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am the administrator! have been searching through settings for a coup[le of days now, cant find anything. any help appreciated.

I'm using Outlook 2003 with SP2 under XP Home on a laptop.
A hyperlink received in an email stopped working and went instead to a
"links" page displaying an explorer view of "My Computer", C drive
etc., as though it had lost contact with Internet Explorer, so I
navigated to the IE exe file and selected that. Now when hitting the
hyperlink, IE opens but with an invalid URL. The URL comprises 3
parts, "outbind://" followed by a numeric string, followed by the
correct URL. In IE I have tried looking at Tools, Internet Options,
Programs and RESET WEB SETTINGS but without any difference. Have also
been to Control Panel, Tools, Folder Options, File Types and checked
the URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol setting to check the OPEN control
which contained the following: "C:Program FilesInternet
Exploreriexplore.exe" -nohome I also checked the URL: Hypertext
Transfer Protocol with Privacy which was the same. Other users
reporting this kind of problem seem to have fixed the problem with the
above actions and settings. I am now stumped as to what to do next.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

I just installed Office 2007 and discovered the option of being able to
email a calendar. I tried it out by emailing a full detail calendar for a
specific day to myself. The calendar details for this day contain
hyperlinks to a specific .html files on our local network.

The hyperlinks work just fine in OL 2007. However, when I email the same
calendar to a co-worker who is using OL 2003, the hyperlinks display as
plain text and, of course, don't work.

I tried forwarding the calendar I had emailed to myself from my account to
the co-worker, and in addition I copied and pasted one of the hyperlinks
into the message body. On my co-workers account, the hyperlink that I
entered manually into the message came through as a functioning hyperlink,
but the hyperlinks in the calendar details section of the message were still
treated as plain text content.

Each hyperlink in the calendar detail section of the email does break over
onto a second line, so I'm wondering if OL 2003 is breaking the hyperlink
because of that, whereas OL 2007 handles the long hyperlink just fine. Or
is there simply a setting in OL 2003 that needs to be modified?

Can anyone advise me on how to remove the restrictions preventing hyperlinks
received in email from working?

I am using outlook 2003 and all of a sudden, I can not forward to web pages
from links in emails. I am instead seeing a message box looking for the
executable file for the links - nothing has been removed from the system
apart from an old accounting package and the links were working fine even
after that.
I can not even go to links on my msn chats with friends.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - going bonkers trying to figure this
out.
I have done a remove and reinstall, and that doesn't work. Also done a full
virus scan with all the fruit and nothing found.

AJR,

A few months ago you helped out Jan when she reported having a problem with
hyperlinks in Outlook not working. I've got the same problem in that some
hyperlinks won't work while others do. I've tried you solution as outlined
below (tho I got to folder options in My Computer, not control panel) and the
settings are already correct. Any idea why some hyperlinks work and others
don't. The ones that don't work are often from established web sites (like
PCWorld).

Thanks for any help you can give.

I cannot link to a web page with hyperlinks sent in emails. Failure message
says:
General Failure - System cannot find specified file.

Hello,
I have just purchased upgaded to office and the inking in Outlook 2007 does
not work. My inkink works in OneNote 2007 and in MS Word 2007 but not when
creating an email. The "start Inking" button is available but when I select
it the "select" feature turns on instead.

Before the upgrade I used the 2003 versions and had MS Word selected as my
email editor and it worked fine.

Can some one help?

Not sure how it happened, but hyperlinks no longer work in email that I
receive. I receive the following error message:

"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I don't have any idea what restrictions may be in effect. I have searched
through all the outlook options screens and can't find any option that turns
on or off hyperlinks, except for one associated with hyperlinks in phishing
messages which had no effect when I changed it.

I haven't made any other security changes on the computer that I am aware
of. Also, this is a home computer and I am the administrator...and I am no
help...Ha!

Hi everyone,

Have you ever had emails from so many years ago (still preserved) splattered with red crosses that were once hyperlinked images in the email?

I only realized recently that almost all the emails sent from companies do not have the images attached into the email, but consist of html code that links the images to the web. For example,

I archive my web mail in PST folders (settled on it as the format of choice some years ago). Now I realize that the emails are actually not "completely archived". It's problematic, especially for email invoices that needs to be kept.

Sometimes, there are also some newsletters and book reviews that I wish to keep to read later. The images are not embedded into the email too and once they are removed from the web, they are gone.

I could convert the mails into PDF, but that'll be very tedious.

Does anyone know of any setting/addin/ configuration to instruct Outlook to download the hyperlinked images automatically with the email to archive into the PST?

Regards,
Jay

Outlook cannot find "wab.dll" so nothing else will work in Email.

I received an email with a hyperlink in it - it was in blue and underlined
and worked. When I forwarded it to a co-worker, it was no longer underlined
or in blue and obviously did not work as a hyperlink. It could be copied and
pasted but why doesn't it remain as a hyperlink. I use Outlook 2003.

I can't figure out why links in many of my emails will not work. They are
clearly links as they are underlined and when the mouse hovers over them the
web address appears.

I am also having trouble get Internet Explorer to launch (which may be the
main problem) when clicking on a link. How do I fix this?

Hi all,
I just recently upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007. Everything went smoothly, no errors. I started up Outlook and everything migrated without issue. Now, I do have one problem. I'm unable to open certain hyperlinks from an email in Outlook 2007. I click on it and nothing happens.

There are 2 types of hyperlinks in my email, please see examples below:

https://host.example.com/east/test.doc

AND

https://host%2example%2com/east/test%2doc

Now the first link (w/o the '%2') that link DOES open. The 2nd link with the '%2' DOES NOT open, nothing happens.

When I had Outlook 2003, it worked just fine. Both types of hyperlinks opened up the doc page. I'm running Windows XP and FireFox 5 is my default browser. I'm thinking this is a small setting I'm overlooking. Can someone please assist?

Thanks.

Hi
All of a sudden hyperlinks in emails have stopped working. I have Outlook
Express 6, Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and IE 6. There have been no new
programs installed or any changes that I'm aware of. I use McAfee Security
Suite 2006 8. I have been through all the other posts and tried ALL the
suggested solutions but none of them have worked i.e. Resetting I E web
settings, checking the file association and programme it opens with. Any
other suggestion will be much appreciated, as this is driving me mad. Thanks

I click on the Hyperlinks in email messages but although the pointer changes
into the pointing finger nothing happens

In the last 2 months, Outlook stopped connecting to hyperlinks appearing in
received emails messages. When I click on the links now, a window pops up
labeled "Locate Link Browser" listing My Document files.

I'm using Outlook Express 6, Internet Explorer 7 and Windows XP. Since I
upgraded to IE7 the hyperlinks in my email no longer work. I click on them
and nothing happens. If it's a text hyperlink I can copy it into the address
bar and go to the page, but I receive several newsletters that use pictures
for the links and this approach doesn't work in that case. I've looked
everywhere I can think of and haven't found any help. I sure hope someone out
there has a suggestion on how to fix this.

please let me know why outlook will not let me open hyperlinks anymore in
text of emails.

In the last few days my hyperlinks have stopped working in Office Outlook
2007. I can click on any hyperlink in any email I recieve and nothing
happens. I don't even get an error message or redirected. Nothing happens.
I ran the diagnostics for Office and no error was detected. Is there a way
to turn off hyperlinks that I may have inadvertently started or stopped?

Using Outlook 2003; hyperlinks prompt me to open a .exe file in dialog box.
Where do I find the setting to change so that hyperlinks take me to
websites???
