Recover Outlook Contacts from HD Backup ? How ?

I reinstalled my Windows XP HE on my primary partition. I failed to backup
my Outlook Contacts to a pst file before I wiped out my HD. I do have a
backup of my entire HD prior to the reintall.

Where do I look for the contacts file in my backup ?

Path and Filename ?

How can I recover deleted contacts from Exchange 2003 if all I have is a backup of the information stores?  I need to do this without affecting the production server.  Thanks

How do I beam my outlook contacts from my PDA (Audiovox PPC4100) to my
desktop outlook? This is time sensitive, so anyone who can get back to me
today would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My Outlook contacts were incidently deleted by Itunes when Syncing my I Phone
to my new laptop. I recovered my contacts from MS 2003 archive file and
imported them into MS 2007 Outlook. However, they saved as Contacts -
Personal Folder. Two problems! First, I cannot get the I-Phone to recognize
the Contacts - Personal Folder as the default Contacts and sync them to the I
Phone. Second, I would like to restore the original contacts directly to the
primary contacts folder in Outlook, but they keep restoring as yet another
Personal Folder. Yes! - I tried syncing the I Phone with the Old Lap Top.
However, it is too far gone to be of any use in the process (Broken USB port,
etc.). How do I get my Contacts restored and working as the default contacts
for both Outlook and I Tunes?

Like the subject says... How can I link to an Outlook Contact from an Excel
cel?

I'm trying to find out if its possible to import a list of Outlook contacts that have been backed up on my computer in pst format.

Our system was being shut down and i was told to back-up all my contacts as they would be wiped i done this however when my system was back up and running i couldn't import my saved conacts back onto the outlook.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to recove these contacts and if so how would i go about it

Thanks

I recently started dealing with a client, they've been running Windows Server
2003 standard Edition and Exchange.

They only have 1 server and the power supply was intermitent which corrupted
the OS and AD to the point I had to rebuild the whole OS and AD.

My problem is because the previous IT had no disaster recovery plan, or
backups.

I cant rebuild the same AD, that means I had to demote all client computers
from the old domain and add to the new one.

I tryied to do a backup of outlook files so the users wouldn't lose their
old emails and contacts.

But of course when I try to restore the backup the credentials of the
mailbox aren't the same so my client pretty much lost everything within
Outlook, I managed to recover their files and documents from the old server.

Coming to the point, on their HDD the old outlook files are present, anyone
has any idea on how to recover those contacts from the .ost files?

Tried replacing the outlook settings in the hidden folders, but the same
credential problem.

The old AD doesn't exist anymore so credentials cant be checked.

I'll apreciate any help, and my client is desperato to recover his old
contats.

Last week I had to format my hard drive. I reinstalled my business programs
and then did a restore "do not replace" from Microsoft Backup. My Outlook In
box files have not been transferred into my inbox. Where is the Outlook
Inbox in the backup file and how can I restore my old e-mails into my files?

I somehow corrupted my Outlook 2002 contacts list today while
attempting to install a cell phone manager. I have only a few folders
left in the list. I have a backup .pst file that is a couple of weeks
old that has the complete contacts list, but it is missing a lot of
important e-mails. Is there any way to get the contacts list from the
backup file, but still keep the e-mails in the current .pst file?

I recently had a crash and did a complete reinstall. In the process, I also
did a parallel install of Windows XP and saved all data files.

Before the crash, I did a complete backup of my C: Drive once a week. I
assume/hope that this includes my emails and Outlook contacts. However, I
cannot locate them.

I saw a previous thread where Henry Craven posted "By default it will be in:
C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorLocal SettingsApplication
DataMicrosoftOutlook.

You should have an Outlook.pst file and may have an Archive.pst file "

However, a search of the external hard drive for Outlook.pst or Archive.pst
does not yield anything.

I could not find anything in the Documents and SettingsAdministratorLocal
SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook configuration.

If anyone has any suggestions on where I might find the emails, etc., I'd
appreciate it.

Thanks.

I took over a client and the previous IT had no disaster recovery plan or
backups.

Their OS became corrupt before I even got a chance to backup AD.

I had to rebulind the server from scratch and of course all clients had to
be demoted from the old domain and added to the new.

Because they had all their contacts in outlook and the old AD is not present
to check the credentials I could not restore the mailbox backups.

My client is desperate to recover it's contatcs.

Does any one knows a way to recover the contacts from the .ost and .pst
files that are still presend on the HDD in the hidden folders inside
documents and settings from the old domain user profiles?

I'll apreciate any help.

Tnx.

Hello,

I recently went through the process of transferring all my data from a
failing hard drive onto a new one. Everything went smoothly for the
most part, except that during the process I got an error message saying
that my windows profile got corrupted. I found out how to troubleshoot
the corrupted profile and restore it with this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=8...21120121120120

and that restored most of my settings, except Outlook settings for some
reason. Luckily, my Outlook .pst file was still there (I had also
backed it up onto an external source). When I try to open the old .pst
file and copy the information into the new .pst file that Outlook
created for me, my contacts (many, many valuable contacts I use for
work) are not there! They are not there in the version of the .pst on
my external source, or on my computer. I went all over the Microsoft
Support site for tips and couldn't find any reference to this specific
problem, except one article that mentioned finding a *.pab file in your
computer (Windows Explorer found no file with a .pab extension anywhere
on my computer). Any ideas? Even though the old profile was
corrupted, all the information from my old drive is still there so I
can't imagine that it was completed wiped out. I still have the old
hard drive linked up as a slave drive, so I can access it easily.

I cannot seem to move my calendar and contacts from my backup files into my new outlook 2010. Additionally, I have moved six archive files into the new outlook folder, but only one archive file opens. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I like the ability to open a contact up quickly for review, eg. in email you
can right click and open outlook contact, however, I cannot figure out how do
open a outlook contact quickly in tasks or calenders?*

* in 2003 there was a field at the bottom left corner you could click to
quickly open the outlook contact up that the task was linked to.

I imported some contacts from someone else’s address book and if I send a
email from these imported contacts, the email’s “From” field list the person
from whom I imported the contact from, instead of my email address.

How do I remove the other persons email and replace it with mine from an
outlook contact? The specific field can be found opening a contact, Click on
“Show All Fields”, Select From “All Post Fields” and in the body you will see
“From” with an email address that is not mine?

Any suggestions?

Will Outlook 2007 automatically use my contact list and email accounts from
outlook 2003 or will I have to import my contacts from a backup and set up
again my email accounts from outlook 2003?

We just reformatted our computer and re-installed MSO2000. We didn't export
our contact list from Outlook. We backup our hard drive weekly. Does
Outlook save a file of our contacts that I could retrieve from our backup
(where would that be stored?) or am I SOL?

I have been trying in vain to upload the MS Outlook Contacts on my PC to the
MS Outlook Contacts Folder found via the E-Mail tab on BT Business Connect
Hompage (my ISP).
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Hello!

I hope you can help me correctly run this VBA script. I'm trying to run a
script in Excel that will display information from my Outlook contacts. I
tried to follow examples on this site, but I'm running into problems
accessing the contact folder.

I'm running Outlook & Excel 2003, Windows XP, and my work has an exchange
server but I'm not sure how this complicates things.

Thanks so much! Let me know if I can provide any more info.

Sub ShowContactNames ()

Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set myNameSpace = OutApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set myFolder = myNameSpace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderContacts) 'It errors out
on this line
Set myContacts = myFolder.Items

For Each myContact In myContacts
MsgBox "Name = " & myContact.FullName
Next

MsgBox "You Rock!"

End Sub

Error out on line "Set myFolder = myNameSpace..."

"Run-Time error '-2147024809 (80070057)': Could not complete the operation.
One or more parameter values are not valid."

Help me MVPs, you're my only hope!

Hi, I am running XP SP3 and Outlook 2007. After reinstalling XP I realized
that I forgot to backup my contacts. I thought I should be looking for a
..pst file. When I recovered outlook.pst and inserted it into c:documents
and settingsuserprofilelocal settingsapplication datamicrosoftoutlook
and then opened outlook, I got a message saying that the .pst file is not a
personal folders file.

Please help.

Thank you.

I saved my Outlook contacts before reformatting. Now I can't figure out how
to get them back. They are saced in My Documents as a text file. Help!

How do do I locate and move my Outlook Contact information from one computer
to another?

Thank you in advance.

I had all my email contacts in outlook. two days back while clearing unwanted emails by mistake i have deleted the important contacts folder and the worst thing is the folder is not listed in deleted items folder. is there any chance to recover my contacts

I need to export contacts from Outlook that reside on an exchange server to either an Excel file or a .csv windows file format on my computer. When I use the export wizard on my computer to facilitate this, it only finds the contacts that are on my desktop, not those that are on the Exchange server. I need for the contact files to export with user-defined options so that they import with only the data I need.

How do I get the export wizard to locate & recognize contacts & contact files that reside on an Exchange server?
