Exporting Messages - An Error Occurred While Initializing MAPI????

When I click File/Export Messages, and then click the OK for Exporting OE Messages, I get
a small window that says:
An Error Occurred While Initializing MAPI

Then I cannot go any farther then clicking the OK button in the error dialog box, which
brings me back to the main Outlook Express window. I know that I can manually copy and
export the store file. But, I have never had this error message before, and would prefer
to use the exporting messages wizard. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Often (more than 50% of the time), when the pop-up that occurs when a new message arrives (down by the task bar), I get the following message: 'an error occurred while calling the callback: "Ribbon GetDCVisible" '. After I click "OK", the message opens (apparently) fine. But these messages that occur every time I try to open a message from the alert by the task bar are very annoying. Can someone tell me what's going on?

Thanks

John

Greetings,

I am trying to export my messages from one box to a new one.

I click FileExportMessage I get, 'This will export messages from Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange.'

Click OK, and I get this error message, 'The export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI.'

Using Outlook Express 6. Windows 2000 Pro.

Thank for any help.

Hi,

I'm trying to export messages from OE6 and am getting the following error
message:

"The Export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing
MAPI. "

I searched for a solution online and found a document instructing me to
change the default email program from OE to something else. I followed the
directions to the letter, but no luck. The same exact error appears when I
try to export. The person I'm trying to do this for has several different
identities in OE and the problem happens in each one. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Regards & Happy Holidays,

--- Gary

Thanks, but shouldn't I be able to use the export utility with OE?

You can only File Export to MS Outlook or Exchange. You want to backup
your data and import it into OE5. (And if you want to avoid problems,
make
sure IE and OE are v5.01 or higher. Long story...)

1) A short while ago I suddenly couldn't log onto my email server anymore. I
try, and get a Logon dialog. I exit from that and an Error msg appears, with
"Server Error 0x800CCC90" and "Error Number 0x800CCC92" (in case that helps
you identity the problem. I've checked the settings out with my ISP
(Sympatico) and they say there's nothing wrong with the settings or anything
on their side, and that there must be something wrong with my email reader
(which is Outlook Express 6). I've scanned for viruses and found nothing. The
ISP also suggested uninstalling and reinstalling OE. Which leads me to my
second question...

2) I would like to export all msgs to some recoverable file so I can
uninstall OE. I go File/Export/Messages, and get the instruction that this
action will export msgs to MS Outlook or MS Exchange. Don't think I have
either. But I press OK anyway and get an error message "An error occurred
while initializing MAPI."

So, do you know what might be wrong with my OE? And, if I need to
uninstall/reinstall, how can I first put my messages somewhere safe?

Grateful for any and all tips,

Heather

On Windows 7 I am now getting the following error when trying to send an
email to a contact from Outlook 2003. I have been running Windows 7 for 6
months now with no issues. I just reinstalled Windows 7 and am now getting
this error;

"An error occurred while trying to retrieve information from another
program. Try working with your message again."

I have run Detect and Repair successfully. I have disabled Office Clipboard
and deleted the history in case that was related. I have run scanpst.

Greetings Exchange community. Please bear with me as this is my first exchange migration. I'm hoping that someone can assist me with a problem that is driving me absolutely insane. I have searched forums for hours and I am still unable to come up with a resolution to this problem...

For the purpose of confidentially, I will be using the contoso.com domain within this thread...

I am in the midst of a migration from Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2010 SP2 rollup4v2. Our Exchange 2010 environment consists of a single hub transport / client access server, and a single mailbox server. We are not using an edge transport server.

I am having a problem getting outlook anywhere to function properly with our non-domain outlook 2010 clients...

When setting up an email account for outlook anywhere, I am either endlessly prompted for authentication, or receive the following errors:

"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action".
"Your server or mailbox names cannot be resolved".

Within the e-mail account setup I have proxy settings in place "msstd:mail.contoso.com" and I am using Basic authentication from the outlook client, NTLM (for outlook anywhere) on the exchange hub/cas server.

I ran the ExRCA for outlook anywhere using autodiscover. All tests pass, with the exception of the last:

Testing the Name Service Provider Interface (NSPI) on the Exchange Mailbox server.
An error occurred while testing the NSPI RPC endpoint
Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6004 (NSPI Proxy Interface) on server HUBCAS01.internal.contoso.com.

Additional Details
The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.

It would appear that my hubcas server is not listening on the required ports:
TCP 0.0.0.0:6001 HUBCAS01:0 LISTENING
TCP 0.0.0.0:6005 HUBCAS01:0 LISTENING
TCP 0.0.0.0:6006 HUBCAS01:0 LISTENING

TCP [::]:6008 HUBCAS01:0 LISTENING

RPC over HTTP Proxy feature is installed on the hub/cas server. There is no redirection set within RPC IIS vdir and SSL is required, client certificates are ignored.

Good afternoon,

I am trying to manage my alerts (from Sharepoint) inside Outlook. I
click the link or click the modify / view buttons and I get the error:
"An error occurred while browsing files". Based on what I have found
here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224098
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.frontpage/br owse_thread/thread/bc5e7ae09677e877/5b4aeac10183923a?lnk=st& amp;q=%22An+error+occurred+while+browsing+files%22+firefox&a mp;rnum=1#5b4aeac10183923a

I have deduced the problem to be that I am using Firefox as my default
browser. Process monitor has shown this:
5515 1:31:19.9088623 PM OUTLOOK.EXE 3536 QueryOpen C:Program Files
Mozilla FirefoxFIREFOX.EXE -url "%1" -requestPending NAME INVALID

And, the file handler for "URL: HTTP..." matches this signature
(assuming the %1 would be replaced with the first argument).

I can open URL files and click URL's from many other applications with
no problems... Does anyone know a solution to this? Aside from having
MS rewrite the Outlook code to use more standard URL invocation
methods, is there a fix?

Best regards,
-Sean

Two issues: 1) when I try to send an email I get the message "An error
occured while attempting to open windows address book", and the meesage can't
be sent. 2) The messages in the inbox appear to be unopened (in bold)
although they have been opened and read.

This was an upgrade from a single exchange 2003 to single exchange 2010. Public folder migration was not successfull. But I think I fixed that. Good thing I copied the data from the Public Folders to a special mailbox I created for that purpose. I was able to move it back once I was able to remove the corrupt Public Folder Database (Used ADSI Edit for that) create the new one, and got the new Public Folder structure recreated. But I am getting this error in my App Event Log.

Event ID: 4066 - An error occurred while trying to write to the cluster database. Error: Open cluster failed with error 1060.

I read it's known issue. But I wondering if any has a fix for it yet. If not how can I be notified there is a fix? I have "Alert me" turned on for this Post.

Thanks in advance.

Tried a variety of things and still end up with the following error.

¬*

New-OwaVirtualDirectory : An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://mailserver.weareone.com/W3SVC/

I really don't want to uninstall IIS/reinstall IIS, Service Pack IIS, Uninstall the CAS, Reinstall the CAS, create the Owa Virtual Directory again and hope it works without losing any data. What are the steps (exactly)?

¬*

There are so many postings on the¬*Internet¬*asking a repeat or slight variation of my question, I got to believe this is a major malfunction "BUG" with Exchange 2007.¬* Is there somewhere I can go to get a step-by-step guide on getting owa up and running again?¬* OWA was working until we uninstalled Exchange 2003.¬* Yes, we followed the instructions to the letter and properly uninstalled 2003.¬* Immediately after, OWA stopped working.

¬*

We viewed several postings instructing us to remove all of the OWA virtual directories and recreate them using the Management Shell.¬* Well, this did not work!¬* It is disconcerting to see the largest company in the world produce a major product such as Exchange with inherent problems that impact employee productivity without some sort of article or Knowledge base answer.¬* I'm waiting for SP1 since we appear to be stuck with 2007.¬* My other question is, can we go back to Exchange 2003 where things¬*were very smooth and everything worked according to the documentation?¬* Just my opinion, but, Exchange 2007 really feels like a beta product.¬*¬* Major functionality fails and there‚Äôs no way to fix it without major downtime and reinstallation of major components. Outlook 2003. Will this solve my problem or can anyone help me?

I cannot export or backup anything from my OE 6!

When I try to do the command (doen't matter what format I choose), this
error message appears:

I am running W2k.
How can I solve this problem? Can I deactivate the MAPI service and get it
to work, or...?
Need your help here guys, who know a bit more!

Have new PC with Vista and have been using Windows Mail (previously imported
Outlook Express files from previous PC). Would now like to export message
and addresses to Outlook 2003. When selecting Export from WM, I get error
message "The export could not be performed. An error occurred while
initializing MAPI." I then tried importing from Outlook and got an error
message "Mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using
the file, please close it and try again." I logged off and tried again, but
received the same error message. How can I address these messages? I would
prefer exporting from WM to preserve the e-mail dates. Thanks.

Drop down below forgets to ask: Windows 7 64 bit (had to -- 8GB ram)

Office 2010 64 bit (stupid of me -- DON'T DO IT!)

Problem: Windows Live Mail export to Outlook 2010 64 bit

Why can't we have error message numbers?  Nothing in Event log either (that I can see)

In Windows Live Mail: File Export Messages...

select Microsoft Exchange Next>

"This will export messages ..." why can't I copy the text??? OK

gives:

"The export could not be performed.  An error occurred while initializing MAPI."

Do I have to uninstall Office 2010 64 bit and install 32 bit?

Arg.

8/3/10

I've been searching the net the last 4 hours for this.

Brand new re-install of Vista x64 Ultimate; original install got damaged
with a dodgy driver install

Added Office 2003 to my install having finally decided to leave XP

Fully patched/service packed installs of Vista and Office before use.

Now, I'm trying to transfer my e-mal from Windows Mail to Outlook. I
originally exported my Windows Mail messages to a directory on my raid drive
with the intention of simply 'importing them'. Unfortunately whenever I try,
I get an error advising me that

"The mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using this
file, please close it and try again"

My very naive guess would be that it's something to do with UAC and admin
privillages preventing Outlook from access the folder.

I've seen more than a few promoting the option to 'File -> Export ->
Microsoft Exchange', but every attempt to do this is met with the Error "The
export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI".

To answer a few of the common troubleshooting replies for this, I have
outlook set as my default mail client (via tools, options, other in outlook),
and both outlook and Windows mail are installed on this PC, and they have
been both fully patched/updated prior to use, and attempting all this.

My only thoughts here are that it may have something to do with my version
of Vista being 64 bit, and Outlook 2003 being ...... ?

I'm stuck.

Any successes or suggestions out there? Although I would consider
re-installation, I genuinely don't think thats an issue as this is already a
clean and uncomplicated install.

Thanks

Andy

When trying to export from outlook express - get this error:
"The export cannot be performed, an error occurred while initializing mapi.
I can import fine.

When trying to export messages an error message appears that says....An
error occured while initalizing MAPI.

I am using Outlook Express 6.0.2900.2180...

I configured it to use my yahoo POP mail account, and checked off 'leave
mail on server' option since I only need the client to view email while I am
not connected to the internet. Well, began downloading a message, but there
was a memory error and I had to restart outlook. When I went to send/recieve
messages, it downloaded all my email from my yahoo account. However, to my
dismay, not only did it download them, but it also deleted them from my inbox
on yahoo. I went back to the 'leave mail on server' option, and it was
unchecked.

Is there a way to get all that email back up on to the server?

I am also trying to export the email to a file so that I can still access my
email on my PDA, and other computers because I still need to access some 4000
emails from multiple machines in many locations (which is why I needed the
'leave mail on server option)! However, when I try to export, I get "The
export could not be performed, an error occurred while initializing MAPI."
Does anyone know what this is? I keep getting this after rebooting.

Finally, I tried just emailing myself all the emails back to my yahoo
account. Everywhere I saw, I specified my account as ".
However, I get the following error:

"The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was '."

It appears that Outlook is sending my email out with the top level domain
(tld) of "com" instead of "fr". Is there a place I could be overlooking?
Under toolsaccountproperties, I have the "fr" tld in use under both email
address and reply address in the General tab, which is the only place I see
to include the tld.

Can anyone help with (1) putting my mail back up on the server, (2) getting
my export function to work, and (3) enabling my outlook to send emails?

This is just a big mess, as this was the first time I used outlook and it
just trapped all my email onto a laptop I hardly use.

Thanks to anyone that can help.
