Underlined Links in Web Pages

Hi all,

I recently noticed a whole lot of underlined links in every webpage I visit.
These are bogus links that just take me to some advertising site. Annoying
isn't the word for it.

I've done a little research and came to the conclusion that I have some sort
of adware or spyware on my computer. I ran Ad-Aware and it found several
critters, which it removed. But I could run Ad-Aware again a half hour
later, and it will find another one. According to Spybot, there are no more
spies on the computer, and according to Norton, there are no viruses. But
clearly there's something causing these annoying false links. I upgraded to
IE7 yesterday, naively thinking that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I'd sure appreciate some help with this issue.

Thanks for your help.

Danno

I tried Outlook 2007; I went back to Outlook 2003 by uninstalling 2007, then
using Add/remove programs in Windows XP SP 2 to "change" my Office 2003
installation by adding Outlook 2003 back in. Unfortunately, now when I click
on an email link on a web page (a link to MailTo:recipient), I get the error
message "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is
not properly installed." When I close out this error message window, I get a
cascade of 20 or 30 blank web pages or pages reporting navigational errors.
How can I restore the functionality of the MailTo links?

I should note that I have "repaired" the installation using the Add/Remove
Programs listing for Office 2003; and I found an article in the KnowledgeBase
regarding this error report but after created a URL:MailTo entry in File
Types, and specifying the program to use, it still didn't work.

Suddenly a few days ago, whenever I try to open a link in an email in Outlook I get, "The procedure entry point _ iob_func could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCR70.dll" or "This operation has been canceled due to restriction in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" (I have administrator rights).

If I copy or paste to a browser links open fine. I've searched this and most of what I read refers to problems with XP & Vista and not W7. I've also read that it could be a registry issue but if so, why can I open links in web pages and not Outlook?

I have a lot of email links to open daily and would really like to resolve this. Thanks!

Does anyone know what might prevent me from forwarding or just sending a web page link in outlook 2K, on exchange 2K?

Hello all expert,

When I tried to access the link of a web page in the email via outlook,
after i clicked the link, it doesnt direct me to the proper web page. After
i clicked the link, there is a "Locate Link Browser" pop up, and ask me for
the appropriate ".exe" file.

I have tried different links, but the same pop up window prompted.

Please kindly advice.

Cheers,
Kaci

Hi,

A quick question, can Outlook forms be linked into web pages? Specifically
we have forms that we want to link into our intranet. Has anyone done this?

Thanks in advance!
Tina

Hi Group,

I have like many other people need to send links of web pages to other
people.

When I try to do this I get the following;
" A program is attempting to start Outlook Express, but cannot do so while
the current version of the program is running.
Close OE and try again."

This is so frustrating as it then closes the web page I am trying to link,
and I have to start all over again.

I am running XP pro3 64bit, but am browing in 32bit and OE6

Thanks in advance to all those that take the time to give a sensible reply

David.

We have a new laptop in the office, but the user is having a difficult time
reading the small type-size. I have increased type sizes in Windows - icons
on desktop, etc. Also increased type size in Outlook inbox, folder lists,
etc. However, when he actually opens the emails, they are in the small type
size and for the life of me I can't figure out how to make them bigger. Also
cannot figure out how to make web pages in a larger display. Any help would
be appreciated.

Suddenly I cannot link to web pages by clicking on links in incoming mails.
When I click on a link (eg an e-bay item in a "watched item" mail from
e-bay), I am taken to my desktop listing window (not the desktop, just the
window showing list of desktop items, and options)!!!
This happened after I did a disc cleanup and defragment!
I have got nowhere with Dell support (no surprise there!)
Any one got any ideas?
I am baffled
Thanks

HI, We are experiencing problems opening links to web pages in OWA. Users are
prompted to enter their username and password again but that just keeps
repeating itself. So it is impossible to open the link. LInks work fine in
Outlook.

We also have an ISA 2004 server.

Thanks for any help offered.

For some reason after I open an e-mail, I can't open underlined links to
print out coupons or to go to catologues, I was wondering what could be cause
this.

hi web links on my email have stopped working and also links in web pages
are playing up. Any answers??

Thanks

Recently, When I click on a web page link in outlook 2003the page does not
open. What can I do to fix this.

If someone sends me a web page link in an email--it won't open when I click
on it. A blank internet explorer page opens. Can anyone help?

I NEED TO LINK THE SUB-FOLDER IN THE INBOX FOLDER TO THE WEB PAGE OF THE SENDER.
FOR EXAMPLE : IN MY INBOX THERE ARE VERY DIFFERNET SORT OF E-mails.
i have created folder in the inbox. i want the flyer emails to go directly to 'flyer' folder, unviersity correpandence go directly to the 'University ' folder and so on

If there is a link to a web page in an email, when I click on it I get an
error message telling me to contact the system administrator. I am the only
user of this computer and am the administrator. I had the problem in Outlook
2003 and it is still in 2007 Enterprise. (Vista Business OS)

The OS is WinXP and SP2

I cannot send email when I click a link on a web page that is marked
mailto:address

This happens with either IE6 or Firefox. The message that comes back is
"Could not perform the operation because the default mail client is not
installed properly."

As many as 60 copies of a page that reads "Internet Explorer was unable to
link to the web page you requested."

A search through the KB only found KB182985. This does not fit the
parameters of the link.

The configuration in "Set program access and defaults" is set to custom.

The "Choose a default e-mail program" is set to "use my current e-mail
program"

The box beside "Outlook Express" is checked.

If I select OE, it does not stay selected after closing the configuration
screen, but reverts back to the previous settings.

How is this fixed?

Hi everyone, I'm in need of help. All of a sudden, my emails aren't working
the way they are supposed to. I have outlook 2002, and when an email comes
thru, say from a company, i click on the link to take me to that companies
website, I get a new web page with Internet Explorer, but the address bar is
blank as well as the page. Anyone know what's going on here and how I can fix
it?

Is there a way to embed a web page in an email message so that everything
within the web page is embedded, i.e., so there are no external links to a
server to download the images. I have been using the following technique but
I need to change it so everything is embedded, even though that will increase
the size of the email.

I create a web page in FrontPage. I then view the page in Internet Explorer,
click edit/select all/copy. Then I paste the contents in the email and send.
But now I want to include all the images that are a part of that web page in
the email so the recipients' computer doesn't have to connect to our server
to download the images.

When viewing a web page I want to share with someone, I click File and choose
Send "Web Page by email" or "Web Link by Email". In the past with my other
ISP provider and using Outlook, it worked fine. I could fill in the
recipient(s) names and send off. With my new ISP provider, it opens into
Outlook and I get a message above the header saying "Message has not been
sent". That itself is strange, since I have not even been given the chance
to fill in any names. When I do enter the recipient names, I do not have the
button available to click and send.

HELP!

Vicky

Vicky,

The steps I provided above regarding moving your mail account setting to
Outlook should then give you the option to send the message. It appears that
the message could not be sent because you hadnt setup your email account in
Outlook at th is point.

I cannot link to a web page with hyperlinks sent in emails. Failure message
says:
General Failure - System cannot find specified file.

When I am on a web page and try to send that page using file/send/link by
email I get a M/S Outlook error message The Operation Failed. This has worked
successfully many times in the past, but suddening I am getting this error
message.

I am running Outlook in Office Professional 2003 using Windows Vista with
plenty of RAM (3gb).

Why am I getting this error message and how do I correct it?

Thanks...

I was able to open links in emails and it would go directly to the web page
indicated and now it only opens internet explorer and goes to my home page. I
am using Outlook 2003 and both internet explorer and Firefox and it worked
fine until this past weekend.
