I normally use Yahoo Mail, and its web-based mail service.
Today, when setting up a new computer at my home, I
configured Outlook 2007 for my Yahoo account, and before I knew it, Outlook has automatically downloaded all my Yahoo inbox
(all 260 messages!) AND deleted them from the Yahoo server! Yes, I now know I can configure it not to do that, but it is too
Unfortunately, the new system I was setting up, will not be my primary system to handle my email. I would
prefer handling my mail on my notebook.
Is there anyway I can export the Outlook 2007 inbox, and import it into
Outlook 2007 on my notebook computer? It is not critical that it be imported as 'inbox', even if I could import it into a
temporary folder so I can process these 260 messages.
Ok, I figured this out.. I went to the MS site and downloaded the Backup Personal Folders tool and installed it on both
systems that have MS Outlook 2007. This tool adds a new "Backup.." option under the FILE menu. I used it to backup my
folders from the new system, moved the resulting .pst file to the old system, and again using the Backup tool on the old
system, was able to copy over all my inbox messages from the new system to the inbox on my old system.
