Why can't outlook cannot open calendar folder?

When I open outlook 2007 calendar, I would get a message saying, "cannot open
folder." I tried going to folder list, and clicked calendar and it said,
"The connection to Microsoft exchange is unvailable. Outlook must be online
or connected to complete this action." The problem is I am connected.

Hi,

I can't access my Outlook 2007 Calendar which is vital to me. Whenever I
click on Calendar, Outlook displays the message "Outlook cannot open
Calendar, it may be damaged".

My Outlook 2007 is at SP1 plus latest updates and running Office diagnostics
has not resolved the problem. I am running Office 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1
plus latest updates.

I have used Vista's previous versions feature to retrieve my Outlook.pst
file from a couple of days ago but I don't know how to use this to restore my
Calendar (if it is possible).

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

when I open my email on outlook I get a pop up notice that "outlook cannot
open calendar" When I get reminders that occured proir to this message it
states "cannot turn off the reminder, you may be reminded again. Cannot open
the free/busy information"

why is this happening?

Hi,
I run xp on my home machine and recently bought office 2007. After a couple
of months with no problems, outlook is now unable to open my calendar. When
starting up I get the message 'Could not read the calendar'. When I go into
the calendar and select it on the left hand side i get the message 'Outlook
cannot open this item. The item may be damaged'.
I have run all the updates I can and nothing seems to make any difference.
If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks

We have a 2003 domain and run Exchange 2003 server with Outlook 2003
clients. One user has 3 strange problems. She cannot open calendar
appointments (no error, just nothing happens), she cannot read the
email contents in the preview pane and has top open the email fully to
do so, and she cannot highlight text in the body of the email. It is
not to do with the Outlook installation itself as we run a Citrix
environment and she gets this problem when logged on to different
servers. I have deleted and recreated her profile. Interestingly it
seemed to sort the problem of opening meeting rooms temporarily, but
this issue quickly reappeared. I don't know why this is happening. Any
ideas?

Thanks,

QH

I'm running Windows Vista and have Outlook 2007.  I have three users on the system

For UserC, When I try to start Outlook I get this error message

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook.  Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened.  File access is denied.  You do not have the permission required to access the file C:UsersUserBAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlookOut look.pst"

Note that I'm logged in as UserC and Outlook is looking in the UserB directoryh for the AppData...

I've tried renaming the Outlook directory in ...LocalMicrosoft as well as ...RoamingMicrosoft.  When I did this, Microsoft recreated the directories for UserB... but I get the same error message.

Please someone help... I can't live without my Outlook. I have tried unintalling Outlook and then reinstalled it. No luck. I don't know what else to do. I appreciate any and all help. This is the error message:
Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file C:UsersOwnerAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlookOut look.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see Help
Thank you.

"Cannot start microsoft outlook. cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. An unexpected error has occured.MAPI was unableto load the information service msncon.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured

Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook. Outlook cannot open this item. The item may be damaged.I can't open my sent folder or deleted items, keep getting send receive error

I have a small network at home with a laptop and a server (that I use like a desktp).  The laptop is runningWindows 7 version 6.1 and the server is running windows server 2008 , both have Office 2007.  My outlook files are on an external drive that can be accessed by either machine (one at a time) and until recently there was no conflict.  However, now I am getting the error message

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened. File access is denied.  You do not have the permission required to access the file"

Does anyone know a cure?

HELP!

I was using Outlook 2007 and love it! but then one day it just closed while
I was using it then this message came up. :

Microsoft Office Outlook:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook
Window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in
the file
C:users.... …. appDatalocalmicrosoftoutlookoutlook.pst.
Quit Outlook and all mail-related applications, and then use the Inbox
repair tool (scanpst.exe)
To diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the
Inbox repair tool, see Help.

I've searched/scanned my computer for the scanpst.exe.. not there. looked
for the Inbox repair tool.. not there. I've uninstalled outlook 2007 and
reloaded it.. still says the same thing. I'm very frustrated here cos I love
outlook. I hate microsoft Mail! Please help. I've bought the outlook 2007
outright. I paid a great deal for this to just turn to crap. Thanks for
everyones help.

Running Outlook 2003 on Vista Business. Have copied outlook express folder
from old PC to C: on Vista. Import says "Cannot open mail folder". I
imported into Windows Mail so it isn't a security problem, as the folder and
all subfolders/files are owned by the user who has full control of the folder
and files.
What can the problem be? Is it because there is no email acount set up as
yet?

I have two users who are delegates to some Executives with Editor
rights to their Calendars. We are using Outlook 2003 and Exchange
2003. Both the delegates and the owner have the latest service pack
as well as the servers. Whe the delegate receives a meeting request
for the owner and click to open the meeting they get the "Can't open
Calendar folder for user "Executivenamehere". Item could not be
found" or "Unable to display the folder. Item could not be found".

I have the /cleanfreebusy switch permanently on their Outlook
shortcuts, the issue is resolved for a while after the close and open
Outlook but it keeps coming back. I have moved their mailboxes to a
different server, performed an extract/import with Exmerge overwriting
their entire mailbox with the import, not just the Calendar.

Everything seems to solve the problem temporarily but they keep coming
back, the frustrating part is that the issue happens randomly from
meetings generated by different users and both on recurring and single
instance meetings. The recurring meetings do have an end date.

I have search but haven't found any answer so far so I am posting this
question here in hopes that I am not the only one in this situation
and that perhaps someone has found a solution or something else to
try, before calling for support and spend countless hours on the phone
while coordinating with the users, etc.

Responses are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I have been having problems with my Outlook (2003) freezing / not responding

Thanks

When I open Outlook I get a message that say it cannot open this folder (Inbox) This may be due to Low memory or disk space.I can open all the other folders Outbox, deleted Items etc.

No matter what I do, I always get the following error: Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook.  Cannot open the Outlook window.  I am running Outlook Professional 2010, with Outlook 2010 on Office XP.  I was running this program without any issues until this past Friday when it stopped working after installing Blackberry Desktop software.  I have deinstalled everything, cleaned the registry, deleted file folders and followed all the suggestions on this forum.  I have performed scanpst.exe on all files, have created a new file and nothing changes.  Nothing that I do can resolve this problem.  The only option that I have is to go to Office 2003, which is a terrible option if I could get it to work and that hasn't been able to be done since installing Office 2010.  If I try compatibility mode, I get an error that doesn't even allow for the start of the program.  I need this to work or I have wasted a great deal of money and time and I will not be able to continue working when I am out of school.  Is this a waste of time?  Can anyone help?

I have windows 7.  Error on Microsoft Outlook.  Cannot open that window when you click on the icon.  System says program incompatable.  Looked on Microsfot web site, instructed to go to the office 2 folder,  unchecked the run box in outlook.exe under properties/ compatability tab. This allowed the program to run one time then the compatability errors reappear.
