Outlook 2007: Long Delay When Opening Appointment

I noticed that there was a long delay the first time I open an outlook
appointment. This started a few months ago. This is Outlook 2007. I
have far more inbox items than I do calendar items yet inbox items
(emails) open up instantly. So do appointments, incidentally, but the
first one takes about 30 seconds before opening. Anyone else seen
this?

for a minute before Browse for a file dialog appears.

Any ideas?

I found an issue with Outlook on my computer.
When an internet connection / network connection is not established and I
will open up MS Outlook 2007 ofcourse it will not be able to synchronize and
it will notify me that it is not connected. When a few seconds later the
internet connection does get established (automatically because it was all
loading), MS Outlook will tell me that 'All folders are up to date'
'Connected to Microsoft Exchange'.

HOWEVER, when I log into the webclient of our exchange server there are new
messages sitting there.
Using SEND / RECEIVE does not download the new messages, closing / opening
Outlook does not download the new messages.
The only way to get the new messages downloaded is to shut down the PC and
wait with opening MS Outlook 2007 until a network / internet connection is
established.

- I have reformatted my pc once already, and the same behavior occurred.
I'm running WINXP.

Thanks

I have 2 users on seperate domains which both have this problem with Outlook
2007. I have carried out numerous tests and it only appears to be internal
mails with Excel/Word attachments from either 2003 or 2007..

For one of the users the problem is intermitent and sometimes has no
problems opening attachments..

The Office Diagnostics test come back with no problems.

Any Ideas??

With Outlook 07 + POP Yahoo mail, I am experiencing long delays (4-15 hrs)
before my Sent messages are received. No problem Receiving my Yahoo mail in
Outlook, and no problem with Internet access. I've tried all the Outlook
account configuration instructions and recommendations from MS Support, with
no success. The problem seems to be with the outgoing Yahoo mail server.
Anyone else experiencing the problem?

When opening Outlook it freezes immediately, any action, ie selecting "File", or clicking on an email results in Not Responding being shown at the top of the program screen.

Hey guys and gals,

My Microsoft Outlook 2007 becomes unresponsive when new emails are being downloaded, and when I try to open those new emails. for you knowledge, I am routing them from my Georgia Tech email server, an IMAP, into Microsoft Outlook 2007. All of those settings are correct.

So whenever I open Outlook and new emails are downloaded, Outlook freezes, goes unresponsive, and I must close it out, send the error report, and reopen. When I reopen, I am able to view those emails with no problem.

It might help you to know that the only thing my defragmenter will not defrag is my Outlook .pst file. I've tried archiving and splitting it into different pst's, but to no avail.

Do you folks have any more suggestions? None of the other Electrical Engineers I speak with have anything else to give me...

Thanks!

Whenever I receive a new tasks in outlook 2007, it will not open. I receive
the following message.

"Cannot open this item. The Tasks folder cannot be found."

How can I get this feature to work properly?

Outlook 2007 always hangs when creating an email? Has anyone a simple
solution to this... thanks .. Rocket

Outlook & Office 2007 installed for months no problems. Earlier this
week something happened and now each time I start an office 2007 or Outlook
2007 program I get a screen displayed titled "Configuration Progress". This
configuration progress runs from 1 to 5 minutes (depending on the program,
outlook, word, etc) and then the program starts.

What is causing this!!! I am NOT running an older version of office. I
have had it, there has to be a fix, I see so many others with the same
problem.

Outlook 2007 freezes up when I try to forward any message. I can Reply OK or
create new messages OK.

Could somebody please tell me how I can make Outlook 2007 run automatically
when I log into my account (Im using Windows Vista).

Many Thanks

Hi,

My Outlook 2007 shuts down when processing scheduled calendar items. I am
running Vista 32 on XPS M1330.

Thanks,

Starting yesterday, Outlook 2007 will not save new appointments or new
contacts. It will let me change and save existing appointments but will NOT
let me save new ones.

outlook 2007 closes down when i delete a reminder....only just started
happening...any ideas on how to stop it would be appreciated.

Outlook 2007 restarts automatically when I shut it down - operating system windows 7 home premium 64 bit - I get a message do I want to send more information about the problem.  I can say yes or no.  After I either send or do not send the message it restarts.  I simply shut it down again and it never retarts after I shut it down the second time.  It just started happening today.  I am not sure what to do and any reply will be most appreciated!

I have been having a problem when I use the Insert Hyperlink command in
Outlook 2007 (with Business Contact Manager). When I choose the command, I
often experience a long delay -- like a minute or two after the dialog
displays but before it will accept any typing in the link text box. Often, if
I wait it will eventually become ready and I can finish inserting the link.
At other times I may wait several minutes before I get tired and kill the
process.

I used to think that this might have been a problem because my old computer
had gotten messed up with too many software installs & uninstalls. However,
I'm experiencing the problem on a brand new machine that I just built this
week.

What could be causing these long delays?

When using the Vista search (Windows Desktop Search) to search for contacts
in my Outlook 2007 profile, the search results come up quickly, but when
clicking on a contact to open it, it takes a really long time to open - even
though Outlook is open at the time. (Between 10-15 seconds on average.)

The Outlook contact items I am searching are in my Outlook Public Folder
Favorites - it is a public folder full of about 2000 contact items.

Performing the same search from within Outlook does not have the delay - the
search is equally fast and contact items open immediately.

When searching for other types of items (documents, pictures, music), the
files open quickly. Only Outlook items open slowly.

I've done a lot of searches looking for why this might be slow, and tried a
lot of suggestions, including:

* Minimizing the size of my Outlook profile (it is currently just 11 MB - or
11218 KB, according to Outlook's "Mailbox Cleanup Wizard"), so it's not
because I have a very large profile.

* Re-built the Windows Desktop Search index

* Excluded items from the Windows Desktop Search index that I don't want
indexed

* Left the indexer running overnight so it could build a complete index
(again, the search is fast - it's opening the results that's slow)

* Restored all of Outlook's file type associations

So far, none of these has helped. Opening items is still as slow as ever.

Some additional facts about my particular configuration:

* My mailbox uses an .OST file, not the older .PST file.

* I am running against an Exchange 2003 server, in Cached Exchange Mode. I
have turned on the option to "Download Public Folder favorites."

* I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, with all the latest updates &
service packs as of the current date (March 18, 2009). Microsoft Office 2007
is equally up-to-date with all the latest updates and Service Pack 1.

* I upgraded to Vista recently from XP Media Center Edition. I used Windows
Desktop Search there as well, under the same Outlook configuration. I did not
have the delay when opening Outlook items then - only after upgrading to
Vista did this begin to happen.

I've exhausted all my usual troubleshooting steps at this point, and I'm
still at a complete loss as for why Outlook items take so long to open from
Vista Desktop Search results.

If anyone has any ideas for why this is happening, or suggestions for what I
can try to get to the bottom of this, please let me know - I'd really
appreciate it!

Thank you!

Hi,

On a local lan, outlook 2007 connecting to Exchange 2003.

If the network connection is lost between the workstation and the exchange
server and outlook is running and connected to the exchange server when the
connection re-establishes (no regard for duration, quick or long) then
outlook will NOT correct itself and reconnect. A white screen shows and you
have to "force" a close and re-open.

Any ideas on why this happens or is this just a product flaw?

Thanks in advance,

George

How to tell Outlook 2007 to index the calendar appointments? It does
index the titles, but the text of the appointment (big, untitled box
you see when you open the appointment) is not indexed and I cannot
search for the text within that field.

Please help!

Outlook 2007.

I added a new appointment (private) in my calendar with "all day
event" option.

I would like that, when other colleagues try to invite me for an
appointment, they will be notified that I am busy (or absent) all day
long.

Is it possible to do automatically ?

Thanks.
