I can't open links in my emails. when i do i get a message that says "General
failure. The URL was (whatever the URL is is here). Application not found.
So apparently i need to find the application?

Recently I am unable to open Hyperlinks in my emails. When clicked on I
receive a popup that states "This operation has been cancelled do to
restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your systems
Administrator".

Please, how do I fix this? I believe it may do with a recent auto download
from MS as both my PC and note book are giving me problems. Thank you for any
help to fix this...d

I'm also having this same problem. I am also using Windows 2000 with Office
2000 small business. I've updated everything and still had no change in my
email hyperlinks. Is there a patch that fixes this? I went throught the KB
and found article 281679 that seemed to match the problem I'm having, but
some of the parts of it didn't apply.

I just got a new computer, and I can't seem to open hyperlinks in the OE6
that came with it. How do I make sure that I am able to do this? Thanks in
advance.

When using outlook, I can not open hyperlinks in email messages. This
feature use to work. I could not find any settings in email options or mouse
settings/

I can't open attachments in Outlook 2003 and get a Attachment Security
Warning message WARNING! This file may contain a virus that can be harmful to
your computer. You must save this file to disk before it can be opened. It
is important to be VERY certain that this file is safe before you open it. I
get the open to Save to Disk and Cancel. I've also added the Level1Remove
registry key with access to the attachments I want to be able to open.

Is there another way to fix this?

can't open hypertext in outlook 2010!!

I tried all the slution online but with can't fix it.

I upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 (non-beta) and upgraded from XP to
Vista (32).

Outlook was fine for about a week then all of a sudden I can't open email or
view it in the preview pane. I get the error "Cannot open this item. The
text formatting command is not available. It may not be installed correctly.
Install Microsoft Office Outlook again."

I removed Outlook, rebooted, and re-Added Outlook, with no change in the
error message.

I have looked for this error in the outlook newsgroups and kb but have found
nothing there about this specific issue.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi,

I used to save my important emails in my desktop, so I have easy access to
them, since I migrated to outlook 2007 I can't open the attachments in these
emails. Does any one knows if this is bug? or if it is a know issue?. The
message I get makes no sense "The operation failed. An object could not be
found".

More important is that when I downgrade to 2003, It started to work again.

Thanks and Best regards,
Luis Aguilar

I downloaded I.E. 7 (beta version) and now when I open an email in Outlook
Express and there's a link that I want to open, I can't.

When I click on the link it opens a folder that says Leigh.TOSHIBA-LAPTOP.
In the address bar it shows C:Documents and SettingsLeigh.TOSHIBA-LAPTOP.
Under that are the following folders: Desktop, Favorites, My Documents,
Start Menu, Windows, ntuser.dat.

Please can anyone tell me what happened and why this opens instead of the
page I'm trying to go to. I sincerely appreciate any help.

Attachments (like Excel or Word) within the body of an email can't open in Outlook 2010.  They appear as the correct icon for the program and a paperclip appears to indicate an attachment.  When attempting to open the attachment, a message appears: "The program used to create this object is Outlook.  That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding.  To edit this object, install Outlook or ensure that any dialog boxes in outlook are closed."  The emails appear in Rich Text.  Right-clicking the icon only allows me to save the icon itself, not the attachment.

The attachments work correctly in OWA and Outlook 2003.

If I receive a HTML message with an attachment, it opens fine and in the correct program.

I have done extensive searches in Google and Microsoft and have not found a solution to this problem.

Hi there,

We have done Exchange database defragmentation - no problem registered, but now clients cannot open SOME (not all) of their emails in their Inboxes. I have tried to download messages through POP3 - same result. System registers in Event log:

Error 0xfffff9bf occurred while rendering message 0001-0000000d1d67 for download for user user@domain.com.
For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.

Event ID: 1023

Outlook just says that "Can't open an item" if I click on it. Subject, name email address and date/time are still visible in a list of items in Inbox. Any ideas (Except restoring from backup)?

Many thanks

Alexander

I received an email today that I can neither open nor delete.

Trying to open it causes a small pop-up that says "Can't open this item"

Trying to delete it from Deleted Folder causes a pop-up that says "An
error occurred in the underlying security system"
Same thing if I right click it and pick OPTIONS.

It also has a funny icon with what looks like a red ribbon with a gold
center thats located in the top left hand corner of the envelope icon.

Any ideas????

Outlook version 2002
Windows Vista Ultimate.

I can't open an attachment if it is an email that has been forwarded. I can
open excel spreadsheets, word docs, etc. I am using Exchange. I'm using
Outlook 2007. Didn't have this problem on Outlook 2003 (new machine as
well). Can open with OWA. Error message is "This file cannot be previewed
because of an error with the following previewer: Microsoft Office Outlook
message and item previewer. To open this file in its own program,
double-click it." Its own program is Outlook. Have tried repairing office.
Any suggestions?

Hello...
This just started. When I receive an email that has a link to a web page,
the cursor will turn to the hand recognizing the text as a link, but when I
click on the link (single or double) the page will not open. I have tested
this with links that I know are good links. When clicking absolutely nothing
happens. Haven't changed anything in the system. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

So after a brief, but totally unsatisfying, stint trying out Outlook 2010
beta I had to go back to using Outlook 2007 w/ BCM.

After finally getting my backups restored in Outlook 2007, I've noticed that
I can no longer access the attachments on any of my emails.

I can see the icon, but I can't open it. Double clicking doesn't do
anything and neither does right clicking on the file. I can't access the
attachment in the preview pane or if I open the email.

Outlook doesn't throw any errors, it just won't open the attachment.

HELP!

When I click on a link to a website in an email, it says windows can't open this file and asks me to pick one. I pick internet explorer and it works, but it won't remember it and I have to do it every time. It just started doing this, it used to go directly to the site.

How do I correct this?

What settings do I need so I can open pictures in emails by right clicking
little red "X" inside black outlined box?
