Outlook has already begun transmitting this message - Outlook 2007

I have seen this post several times, personally I have never had this problem
with any of my other versions of Outlook. I seem to be struggling with
little things in 2007. Mine is a little bit different than the other posts.
Yes, it gets stuck in the outbox, even if the file is only 2 or 3MB. My real
issue is that is REALLY is sending (over and over and OVER again). Thank
goodness my other half called me and told me to STOP whatever I was doing
because I was clogging up his email at work. I thought it was a fluke (new
PC with Vista and Office '07) but now I think I have a bigger problem because
it happened again. This is not good!!!! How can I stop this from happening.
The only way I could stop it from sending was to delete the PST file.
1. Changing it to working offline and trying to delete the file does not
work.
2. I disabled my send/receive that did not work.
3. Went under Options/Mail Setup and unchecked send immediately when
connected.
4. Under Send/Receive Groups I unchecked most of everything and edited each
account.
3. The only fix was to delete my PST file completely.

Besides being able to delete the file, without deleting the PST file, I
REALLY need to know how to stop if from continually sending the same email
over and over again, and from getting stuck in my outbox in the first place.

Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!

How do I edit a message that has already started to transmit? I sent my email
message without changing my photo sizes & realised too late :| I cancelled
the sending bit but now I can't access or move the message to edit it &
resend. The message that comes up is: "Can't open this item. Outlook has
already begun transmitting this message." Please helpppppppp :|

I have a big (6mb) file sitting in outbox. i cannot move, or delete. when
double click the file, it says: "can't open this item. outlook has already
begun transmitting this message" while i already canceled transmitting.

i sent an email that was too big and now it's just sitting in my outbox. i've
tried to delete but nothing happens. i try to open it and it says "cannot
open this item. outlook has already begun transmitting this message". it
won't let me cancel the transmission or anything. i've closed out of
outlook, still there. it's been there about 9 hours now.

My operating system is Windows 7, 64-bit; I sent anemail message with attachments several days ago, viaOutlook 2007, and it got stuck in the Outbox. I tried to delete it from the Outbox, but it says, "Outlook has already begun transmitting this message." Unfortunately, it hasn't "stopped transmitting" for several days, and there is another message behind it ready to go, but no go! The attachment sizes were standard size (sent many times before). I've got a bottleneck and I can't use Outlook! By the way, I'm running McAfee Security software.  HELP!  --Doc

I'm using Outlook 2007. I seem to have an item "stuck" in my outbox. A
program had an error and created a report to send to its tech people.
Now this item is in my Outbox and will not go away. It is 33mb in size.
Outlook says I cannot do anything with it because "Outlook has already begun
transmitting this message".
I cannot see where it is actually transmitting the message. I see no activity.
I cant move it, delete it anything with it.

I just want to get it out of the Outbox and delete it.

Thanks

Bob

I have a message that appears to be stuck in my Outbox. When I try to delete
it nothing happens. When I try to do anything else I get an error message,
"Outlook has already begun transmitting this message." It is hanging up my
Outbox so that nothing else can get out of it. Can still receive incoming
messages. Am using Outlook with my Hotmail account.

A customer of mine has a problem with Outlook 2007 SP1 + latest updates
running on Vista SP1 + latest updates whereby when he does a send and receive
and there is an email in the Outbox waiting to be sent, instead of carrying
out three send and three receive actions (one for each email account present)
Outlook starts doing many send and receive actions and finally locks up.

Relevant background info as follows:

I set up and installled the computer from new on 18th March 2009 and as part
of the installation set up and tested the email in Outlook 2007. I also
installed the Windows Mobile Device Center and paired the customer's HP iPAQ
running Windows Mobile 2003 SE to sync Contacts and Calendar with Outlook
2007. The email problem started mid-morning the next day (i.e. 19th March)
and the customer had used his email successfully a significant number of
times before this began to happen.

The customer has told me he hasn't changed anything that could cause this
problem. Over the telephone I have talked the customer through disconnecting
the HP iPAQ and deleting and recreating the email accounts but the problem
remains.

I have an appointment with the customer at 16:00 Tuesday 24th March (GMT) to
investigate this problem and would appreciate any advice on how to
troubleshoot this issue. I would be particularly interested to hear if anyone
knows of any issues between Windows Mobile 2003 SE, WMDC and Outlook 2007.

Update: customer has now told me that an email is permanently stuck in the
Outbox. If he tries to open it he gets the message "Cannot open this item.
Outlook has already begun transmitting this message." I have talekd him
through taking Outlook offline and trying to delete it and even deleting the
email accounts from Outlook but this doesn't resolve the issue. I have also
talked him through running SCANPST but this didn't help.

Over a week ago I tried sending an email from Microsoft Outlook 2007 and did not realize the the attachment size was 93MB. This is email is still in my outbox from a week ago and it is slowing down the Outlook program tremendously. I wish to delete this message from the Outbox, but when I try to do something with it, I receive an error message: "Cannot open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message". Is there any way I can bypass this message and somehow delete this messgae from my outbox?

I have Outlook 2007 and I am trying to send an email to with 2 files attached
to one person and copy 2 other people. The email is still in outbox and
won't let me delete it. It says "Outlook has already begun transmitting this
messag." But is has been hours and it won't go through.

Hi!
So I'm having an occasional recurring issue. What happens is that an email message is getting stuck in the outbox. It starts sending, then doesn't finish. I can not delete the message from the outbox, nor can I resend it. I get one of the following two messages, depending on whether the email is in "send" mode or not:
"Could not complete the operation...One or more parameters are not valid." OR
"Cannot open this items. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message."

When this first happened, it caused Outlook to crash every time I opened it. My first attempt at a solution was to deal with Mailstreet technical support, as my email account is a Mailstreet Exchange account. They tried to help me by creating a new pst file. That worked for about a week, then a couple of messages got stuck again. It's also much slower than usual. Mailstreet said it's not a mailstreet issue, because the email attempting to send never shows up on the web server.

My colleague suggested I reinstall Outlook, but I've read on some of these posts that that is rarely a solution to problems. Please help!

I run Windows XP, Outlook 2007, mailstreet exchange account.

thanks in advance,
Dave

I've developed an Outlook 2007 addin with VS2008 that gathers MailItem
information for insertion to a database. I handle the
Explorer.SelectionChange event and for some reason an exception is getting
logged with a few installs in the office:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xBBC40114): Outlook has
already begun transmitting this message.
at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._MailItem.get_EntryID()
at OutlookTracker.ThisAddIn.Explorer_SelectionChange()

Code:

private void Explorer_SelectionChange()
{
try
{
if (m_Explorer != null)
{
// We only care if there is a single collection
Selection sel = m_Explorer.Selection;
if (sel.Count == 1)
{
object item = sel[1];
if (item is MailItem)
{
MailItem mail = (MailItem)item;

if (vmHandler.LastItemId != mail.EntryID)
{
...Additional code here...
}
}
}
}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
// Log error here
}

vmHandler is a class that facilitates the insertion to the database on a new
thread.

Anyone know what exactly is going on and how to make sure it doesn't occur?

Hello:

I am finding that since Wednesday, when I try to retrieve or send mail in
Outlook, it shuts down. At first it just shut down with no warning. Now I
get a windows pop-up telling me that Outlook needs to restart. I have
already done a virus check, spyware check (using two spyware programs), and
even a System Restore. I am noticing in Outlook now, that I have mail in my
Outbox since Wednesay 7/26/06, and when I try to open it, I get a message
saying "Can't Open. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message." Is
there any way that I can get this message deleted or removed from the server,
or would I have to do something like uninstall and then reinstall Outlook? I
would be grateful for any help, because I use this for home and school, as
well as business.

I just sent an email with a big file attached and my outbox indicates 1 and
everytime i click on it, it says "Outlook has already begun transmitting this
message". How do I just stop transmitting that message which apparently is
taking too much time to send.

My problem is the same. I cannot see outbox in my comcast account.

I sent a message with 6MB attachement by accident through my msn account in
Outlook. The message got stuck in the outbox and when I try to delete, open
or move it I get a warning"Can't open this item. Outlook has already begun
transmitting this message."
Is there any way how to remove this message?

Outlook has tried to deliver a message but failed - I try to delete the email
in my Outbox but am unable to do so. If I try to open the file it says
'Outlook has already begun transmitting this message' (Well yes it has, but
it's stopped!). Any ideas on how to delete the file?

How do I get rid of a large email, 128M, in my Out Box that will not Send,
Delete or Move? When I attempt to Open the note I get the message - "Can't
open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message."

Message only partially sent and transmission cannot now be completed -
following error appears: timed out waiting for server. Other messages
can be sent so it is not a server probably - it's frozen somehow.

And, cannot delete, or open - message appears " Outlook has already
begun transmitting this message"

How can I get rid of this partially sent message?

I have a file that I am sending (63mb) in an email. It will not leave
my outbox and is continually scanned by McAfee. Even when I turnoff
McAfee to see if that helps, it still will not leave my outbox. When I
try to delete that email, nothing happens. When I try to open that
email, it won't allow me to and I receive the message "Can't open this
item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message." I can
leave my computer on for days and this will still not send. Any other
emails that I send are queueing up behind it. I can still receive
emails but I just can't send. Any thoughts?

This came from a 2006 post and we are having the problem recur often. New computer with Vista and Office Enterprise edition 2007. Has there been a more recent solution. The file size is not the problem. We have the problem just with messages and maybe 3 a month but they are hard to get rid of.

Any new developments would be greatly appreciated.

Click File and check Work Offline. Close and then restart outlook. Delete
the message. Click File and uncheck Work Offline.

If that doesn't work, try this:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/stuck_message.htm

I have a message that is sitting in my outbox because in error I attached
files that are too large to be transmitted. I do not want it to cause
problems for the recipient either so I need to delete or move it. If I try
either of these options I get the following message "Outlook has already
begun transmitting this message". It has been in my outbox for 24 hours now.
Any help would be appreciated!
