Outlook doesn't open in Personal Folder

When I open Contacts it opens with the In Box and always opened with Personal
Folders.
Also, when I delete a message from (X )in the menu bar it deletes it and
doesn't go into the Delete Folder anymore. I was always used to everything
going into the folder ande suddenly it changed, what have I done wrong? Thank
you

My Outlook Program won't open the Personal Folder that contains all my e-mail
information. For some reason I have several personal folders listed and the
one that Outlook opens is a generic one. I am operating with Windows XP
Professional and Outlook 2002 which is part of my Office package. It was
operating correctly earlier today but not now.
In location C: Documents & Settings Ray19 Local Settings Application
Data Microsoft Outlook here I have the following folder Microsoft(1)
and the following files -- extend.dat, Outlook1.pst, Outlook2.pst,
Outlook.bak, Outlook.log and Personal Folder(1).pst. : Microsoft (1) folder
contains a folder Outlook(1) and the file Outlook1.pst : Outlook(1) folder
contains the file Outlook1.pst and this file contains all my Outlook e-mail
files I believe.
Can anyone help me straighten this mess out? Oh, and compounding my
confusion is that in location C: Program Files Microsoft Office Office
10 1033 are some more Outlook files and the file OUTLOOK.exe is under the
Office 10 location?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose my e-mail
files and their history/
Thanks, in advance, for any help provided.

I successfully set up another email account besides my main default account
but it doesn't appear in my folders list. I have set up accounts before with
no problem, but can't remember what I did or didn't do. The "test" shows the
test email being sent, but I don't know where it's going.

When opening Outlook I receive an error message: datafile did not close
properly and is being checked for problems.
After the check it reports that no problems have been found. When I close it
to re-open again it does the same thing asking me to open in safe mode. I did
this several times but I am not able to receive mail in normal mode.
Thank you for suggestions. coco

I just reinstalled Office Professional 2003, and now Outlook doesn't work
correctly, and it doesn't appear in "Program Access and Defaults" as an
option for e-mail. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

I installed Win 7 a week or two ago, and everything was going fine. Now
Outlook won't open ... I think it is an add-in (got a message to that effect)
but can't open the program to disable the add-ins. All other Office programs
open fine. Outlook won't open in Safe Mode, Office repair didn't work, and a
new install didn't work. I'm out of ideas. Please help, thanks!

Remember - This is a public forum so never post private information such as In Contacts window of outlook ,I  lost "contacts in personal folders" in contacts pane I used to have both that one and just "contacts" folder visible and I saved some different info in each one.  Now I only see "contacts" not c..in personal folders. How do I retrieve contacts in personal folders to be visible in the pane. I I can not see any contacts stored in that folder any more? WHen I saved info in business card it had on the bottom of the box a note with a box checked ...personal folders"  my contacts now in general "contacts" folder do not have that so I am missing info. How do I get back to seeing both folders . Thank you so much . (I do not recall what I did or what happened to make me loose-change this).email or phone numbers!

Ideas:

Programs you are having problems with Error messages Recent changes you made to your computer What you have already tried to fix the problem

I get "File name or directory name is not valid" when I try to open a
personal folder in Outlook. I have opened this folder before and have not
changed any name or directory. Any suggestions. All of my personal email
messages are stored in this folder and I cannot access them.

Thanks

I"m not sure if this is related to my Microsoft Optical mouse or what? I
recently went to Vista Business and now my mouse wheel doesn't work in
Outlook 2003 in the folders menu. It works fine scrolling through the actual
email lists (inbox) and previewing the email but not in the folders. I think
it's a glitch between my mouse and how Vista is communicating with Outlook...
anybody else run into this?

Every time Outlook 2003 Updates updates I get a new Personal Folders plus my
normal Personal Folders. Can anyone give a way to stop this from happening?

Outlook also gives me a new icon in the taskbar that opens a Different
Outlook that doesn't have my Personal Folders in it after updates until I do
several "Restart"'s this is a real pain as well! any help for this other
problem would be beneficial???

Thanks In Adavance

can I change the opening screen?

Hello,

I downloaded/installed the "Outlook 2003 Add-in: Personal Folders
Backup" on a PC running Windows XP SP2 and Outlook 2003.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8B0 81F3A-B7D0-4B16-B8AF-5A6322F4FD01&displaylang=en

The reminder feature is set to generate reminders every 7 days. The
reminders do not work. I noticed that my Personal Folders hadn't been
backed up in months and I did not get any reminders recently.

Any thoughts on why the reminder feature is not working?

Thanks!

If I open and email in "New Email" (pewrsonal folders) then go to another

The hyperlinks contained in my incoming outlook 2002 messages will not open.
I used to be able to double click and they would open. That no longer works.
Also hitting the control button while clicking on the link doesn't open them
either. There is no error message, there's just no response.

Could you tell me why when I add another users mailbox (FILE/OPEN/OTHER USERS
FOLDER) I can see the contents of the folder but it doesn't appear in my
folder list on the left to easily access it in the future? Your help is much
appreciated!

I am an ordinary person, not a techie. I am self-employed and work alone, not
in an office. but it should still be possible for me to back up my Outlook
data, transfer them to another computer or external drive, and open the files
(.psi) again. Why is it so difficult? I regularly back up into "my
documents", but cannot tell what's there. Why do I have two versions each of
contacts amd calendar, one "in personal folders"? How do I know which is
backed up? One is incomplete. and who knows where the emails are? I don't
understand the terminology used by your helpers. Do I have to take a degree
in IT in order to hang on to important information?

right click on outlook it shows me read email but still doesn't open. I have
to restart my computer and then it will open only to say that outlook failed
to start correctly and do I want to open it in safe mode. This just started
happening about a week a go and not sure how to fix it.. HELP

Thanks for the help,

When the user has placed certain items in a separate folder,
search can't find them. The messages are found when moved to another
folder. The folder's name name is ÄM (non-ASCII) but renaming the folder
doesn't help.
