How to stop Outlook removing "extra line breaks" in incoming msg?

A text message comes in, and Outlook says that extra line breaks were
removed. There's a right-click option to restore them.
1. Why does this happen?
2. How to stop this unpleasant behavior?

We would like to check the Outlook option Tools | Options | Email
Options | "Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages" as the
default option for our users. We were not able to find this setting
available in the Office Customization Wizard or as an option available
to add to the our Office Transform file. I also do not see it
available in the ADM template in Group Policy for Outlook 2002.

I have even tried using tools like Wise to capture making the change
manually and seeing what registry keys are being changed, but even
that has proved futile.

Does anyone know of a way to set this preference other than the user
manually going through Tools | Options in Outlook?

Thanks,

Bill

Though I've ticked the box "Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages",
whenever I reply to plain text emails an additional, empty half line is added
after each line.

It is only visible to me, not on the recipient's side (at least in the one
test I've made).

Any thoughts on how to fix that?

Thanks,
Henrik

Does anyone else get frustrated when they get an email from someone who has
used their Enter key deliberately to format their text, and then Outlook
discards their formatting and runs everything together?

Here's an example list:
Pizza margherita, Supersize, Thin crust, x2
Pink lady apples, Pack of 4
Goat's milk, 1 litre
Coffee, Brazilian blend

This is obviously a list and easy to read as a list but its annoying to have
to re-insert line breaks to transform Pizza margherita, Supersize, Thin
crust, x2 Pink lady apples, Pack of 4 Goat's milk, 1 litre Coffee, Brazilian
blend back into a list.

I can't find a switch to tell Outlook not to be so cavalier with formatted
text emails, and searching MSN and Google and here for terms like "extra line
breaks" provides no clues.

Has anyone solved this problem?

Does anyone else even think it's a problem? Is it just me?

How do I stop Outlook from removing extra line breaks?

Can't remember where I've seen that.
My weather posts always have extra line breaks removed by Outlook and it
scrambles the email some.

Thanks.

I must be missing something here. I tried indenting each line with three
spaces, but I still get the line breaks removed. I am using Outlook 2003. Any
additional ideas about what I could do or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.

Some incoming plain text messages seem to gain several pages of extra blank
lines. I have the "Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages" option
activated, but to no avail. It doesn't happen with all plain text messages -
just some. And it seems to be most prevalent with certain senders. The
extra line breaks always follow the message text, so when reading on screen,
it doesn't bother me. However, the problem becomes very annoying when I
print such an email and get several unwanted blank pages following the text.
Any thoughts on how to avoid this situation? Why is Outlook not
automatically removing these line breaks as it should?

Dave

This message appeared above the "To:" in a gray shaded box.

When this happens the body of the message is gone. Why?

When I click the gray box "restore line breaks" appear.

I click that and the gray box now says "this message has extra line breaks"
and still now message in the body.

How do I turn this extra line break thing off? And will I then get the
message?

Hi

Using Outook 2007 & Vista

Plain text emails are displaying with extra line breaks - I have the 'Remove
Extra Line Breaks' option ticked already!

When I reply to these emails my plain text reply is double spaced also. The
only way I can correct this is to change to HTML, select the whole email and
change the paragraph spacing from 'Auto' (seems to be the default) to '0 pt'.

Don't remember having this problem from day 1, so guess it's something dumb
that I've done, but trawled the internet & can't seem to find a solution.

Thanks

Justin

I have retained my old autocomplete directory (.nk2 file) from my previous outlook at work. Now I am on a different exchange server in my new job.

When I try to type an email address of my old company, then outlook tries to auto populate the name instead of email address (when i type john.smith@oldcompany.com, the outlook changes it to Smith, John).

Any ideas how to prevent outlook from doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Vijay

I want to send a plain text email by code to receipients using Outlook or
WinMail.

Unfortunately, Outlook and Winmail remove line breaks automatically -
catastrophically.

Can I add a header to the e-mail to stop outlook/winmail from doing some
automatic magic regarding the line breaks? Or is there another way to force
Outlook/Winmail to stop removing any linebreaks automatically?

Question:

is there a work around to stop Outlook from removing the auto signature when
replying to a message that is sent in plain text. We get the message
signature not found, outlook will let you respond to the message, but when
you go to tools and mail format to see if the signature is still listed it
isn't. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
