Inbox showing unread messages but NONE exist

Hi,

This is happening to a few of my users (all on same exchange server).

Their Inbox shows 1 message as unread but we have verified there are no
unread messages in the folder.

I even tried right-clicking and choosing mark all as read.

We are running Outlook 2003, XP SP 2 clients and W2K3 Servers with Exchange
2003.

Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Nancy

outlook 2003 sttandard. My outlook inbox shows unread messages but there
aren't any. Finally I select mark all as read but within a few days the same
thing happens again. Any idea??

First time I've seen this! My inbox shows there are still 13 unread
messages, but I've either read or deleted all that were there. Are there
still 13 "residing" somewhere I don't see?
Thanks for the help.

For some reason i simply can not open and read the 4 messages which the inbox
shows I have. I can not reall doing anything differently than before and
would love to hear any suggestions .
Thanks

When my computer boots up, XP says I have one unread message, but there are
none in Outlook.

All new mail is showing up in unread messages but no new mail is showing up
in the inbox listing since 7/10/07

My folder shows (2) and it's bold, which means I have 2 unread messages.
Well, when I look in my inbox I don't see any unread messages. I've done auto
preview per our IT guy's suggestion. I've done advanced find per forum
suggestion and still no luck.

Any other options?

I am having this same problem. Tried to close out of the inbox and outlook
and it still shows. How did you fix this problem?

Thanks

Outlook 2007 shows no unread email, but when logging onto Windows XP it
shows two unread emails.

Windows XP shows two unread messages, but Outlook 2007 shows none.
I have three mail accounts all set to download mail into Personal
Folders Inbox with my account as the primary mail account. Mail to my
wife and my son are the two secondary accounts.

Windows XP creates an unreadmail key in the registry for the three
accounts. But when I read mail sent to the secondary accounts the read
flag is never cleared and they continue to show up as unread. I can
go into the registry and delete the two secondary accounts unreadmail
keys, but they are recreated the next time mail is received into these
two accounts. Outlook 2007 shows no unread mail.

Anyone know how I can resolve this issue without deleting the two
secondary accounts entirely.

TIA Don

My inbox says I have 7 unread messages, but it won't display them.

I had an old IMAP account, which I canceled and now can no longer access the
messages. It had a couple of unread messages when I changed IMAP accounts.
I have a new IMAP account with another couple of unread messages. I changed
some forwarded messages that were in the inbox to "mark as read" and moved
them into a folder.
At the XP log in page, under this user name (my husband actually) it shows
13 unread messages. I've looked all over in Outlook trying to figure out how
to delete stuff or change something to make this a more accurate count. I've
restarted Outlook, restarted the computer and still have this false message
at log-in.
I want to fix the false message, and if possible access the old IMAP account
and fiddle with it.
Using Windows XP, all up to date, Outlook 2003 (Office 2003) also recently
updated.

On my log-on screen there are two unread messages showing since I installed
Office Standard 2007.

When I open Outlook there are no unread messages. Likewise none in Outlook
express. (I have removed the email accounts from Outlook express since
install and now solely use Office Outlook.)

How do I remove these two messages if I can't find them?

I have 2 separate, but possibly related problems:

1. Outlook (2007) is trying to send messages although none are in the
Outbox. I've read this happened in 2003 as well, but was fixed either
by applying a 2003 service pack or running the inbox repair tool. I
ran scanpst.exe and it found errors, says it repaired them, but I
still have the problem.

2. In my Outlook I have Exchange setup via HTTP as well as a PST file
for the POP accounts. When I try to send via my POP accounts that
should use the PST outbox, they end up in the Exchange server Outbox.
The accounts are set to use the PST file, so not sure why this is
happening. One of the POP accounts still sends successfully (with the
resulting "Sent Item" ending up back in the PST's "Sent Items"), but
another one gets an error saying it can't find the SMTP, but my SMTP
settings are correct.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kayda

We're testing out Outlook 2011 for our users, and we've noticed that the canned "Conversation" view does not show unread emails consistently. Some new emails that come in after the application is launched shows unread status, but the majority of emails that exist in the inbox before the application is launched does not show unread count in the conversation view.

Using Outlook 14.0.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.5.

Can someone confirm this as a bug or offer a solution?

I have Exchange 2000 Server and Outlook clients connected using Exchange
client. In thier Exchange inbox the unread message count do not match, it
says they have 1 unread message but all message are marked as read. How can
I fix this is thier a white paper anywhere.

Thanks
Gordon

I have a problem that is becomming a real issue. In OWA 2000 SP2 unread messages in public folders as shown to the right of the folder
in the same way as in the inbox. In OWA 2003 there i no indikation of unread messages in the public folders befor you open a folder. After checking a few Exchange 2003 server with SP1 and SP2 it looks as this is "by design". My problem is that my users demands the funktion. So i feel the pressure to find a sollution. Any ideas?

My opening screen when I first turn on the computer says there are unread
messages but when I go to my e-mail on Microsoft Outlook there are no unread
messages. I have checked every file to make sure I haven't missed any.

I have just installed Office2003 and when I log on to my system the welcome
screen shows that I have unread messages when I know for a fact that I
haven't.
The only way I can get rid of this is to edit the value in the registry. Can
anyone shed any light this please?

Many thanks.

In Outlook 2003 using POP3 mail locally on my PC, I have the folders
setup to show unread messages next to the folder.

However I have a lot of subfolders and any unread messages in those do
not show up on the Parent folder.

Please tell me that there is a way to see the unread messages in
subfolders in the Parent folders' indicator!

Thank you.

Just got Outlook 2010.  Mail is working fine but all Outlook Data Folders are blank.  If I click on a filter (e.g., one week) it is still blank but then it says to check "all mail."  When I click on the link, I can see inbox and sent message in the same window.  But if I go back and click on the inbox or any other folder (on the left side of the screen), nothing comes up.  Have tried everything I can think of.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I have a folder in Outlook 2003 indicating an unread message is present.
However, I have searched the folder for the unread message and performed a
"mark all as read" without success. How do I correct this error?

I am showing sending messages but there is nothing showing in the outbox.
When it is finished, nothing shows up in the sent box either. I then
sometimes get delivery failure notices for mails that I did not send.
