None of the authentication methods supported

I am administering 30 some odd email accounts (POP3/SMTP). Several days ago one of the users could not send or receive any emails and got the message:
None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.
She uses OL2007.
The next day another account developed the same problem followed several hours later by a fourth.
The following day a user of OL2003 fell as well.
By setting the 2007 outgoing encryption to NONE, some of the users problems disappeared.
On User, we took her off the net work and plugged her into a router connected to a completely different net work and that worked fine. When we went back to the proper network it worked for about 30 minutes...and then died.
Now everyone can email one another but three accounts can't email to the outside world.
I am going nuts here because of the inexplicable variations. You can have two computers with the same settings and one will work and not the other.

The account worked under Outlook 2003; what has change or what do I need to
specifiy in the configuration to connect to my mail server that is running
POP3 to pull my messages. I have no problem receiving messages.

I’m using Office 2007. I’m trying to set up my Outlook using gmail. I
followed the example here:
http://www.vista4beginners.com/Windows-Mail-Gmail

I’m getting an error message that reads: ‘Send/Receive error – click here’
Task – ryanshuell@gmail.com – sending reported error (0x800CCC80) None of
the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your
server.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

I just installed Outlook 2007 after running 2003 WAAAY too long. Now I can't send email (receiving is fine). I get this message:
Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.'

Another person asked about this same message and Hal Hostetler answered but that answer was not helpful. It did not fit my situation. I contacted my ISP to ensure I had the correct Incoming and Outgoing server info. Can anyone help? THanks.

I get this message trying to send mail from Outlook 2010 but only when connected via BT Broadband at my home office. I do not get the error when connected via my Vodafone 3g card, or when connected via my Virgin Media brodaband connection at my other office.

If I delete the message from my outbox and perform a send/receive I do not get the message, so it doesn't seem to be trying to send an "invisible" message.

This problem, and error message, seems to occur for some OL 2007 users of
authentication. A possible fix is here:

http://diginc.us/microsoft/outlook-2007-none-of-the-authenti cation-methods-supported-by-this-client-are-supported-by-you r-server/

This fix worked for me (authenticate using "Log onto incoming mail server
before sending mail" instead of the settings that work OK with OL 2003)

I am getting this error:

Sending reported error (Ox800CCC8O) : None of
the authentication methods supported by ths client are supportedd by the
server.’

Hod do I deal with this error message in Outlook 2007?
Task 'mcm88@frontiernet.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None

I have windows vist and am running Outlook 2007. I am unable to send or
receive mail. This is a new problem as I had previously been able to.

Here is the error message I am receiving:
None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported
by your server.

I have checked my outlook settings and there is no authenticaton method
selected. I tried selection each one of the options separately, but to no
avail.

Any ideas?

Sending does not work anymore (receiving is fine). Message: "none of the
authentication methods supported this client are supported by your server".

I have multiple e-mail accounts I used in Outlook XP. After upgrading to
Outlook 2007 the only account I can send e-mail from is the one that uses the
same server for incoming and outgoing messages. The error I receive for the
other accounts is...
None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by
your server.

I've tried using the repair option, I've tried setting up a new account, and
I've tried setting "Use the following type of encrypted connection" under
advanced settings to both None and Auto.

Any ideas for what else I can try? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all:

Had been running Office 2003 and now have installed Office 2007 on my
desktop. OL 2003 had been operating perfectly. After the installation,
I am getting an authentication error when trying to send out emails
from OL 2007. I compared the settings on my laptop (running Office
2003) and they are the same. I am curious if there is another setting
in Outlook/Office 2007 that I am unaware of.

BTW, if I remove the "smtp" before my server name, I get the following
message:
Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing
(SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

If I have the "smtp" before my server name I get this error message:
Send test e-mail message: None of the authentication methods supported
by this client are supported by your server.

Thanks
