What is stopping this message getting through

All of a sudden I am receiving messages that are stating "not received from
server". Why is this happening?

I used the "Do Not Download From Server" rule in Outlook Express but cannot
find it in Outlook 2007.

I have a POP3 account which different people use. In outlook express I used
the rule "Where the To or CC line does not contain 'someone@domain.com' Do
not download it from server ".

When you create rule do not download from server.
It shows contains with the email address the from may say something like
john doe does it stop email from that sender. or do you have to change
contains then email address to john doe

OMG... What is the deal? All I am trying to do is submit a bug to
Microsoft. I've poked around for 20 minutes trying to find a URL that will
allow me to do that. Sheesh, I'm trying to HELP. Why make it so difficult?
Search, support, nada. Except that One Free E-mail Support thing which wants
me to install yet another ActiveX control I don't want and will burn up my
(apparently) ONLY free support slot. I don't need support. I just want to
inform you:

If you are using pop/smtp AND use the Junk e-mail folder AND have "Leave a
copy of the message on the server" AND one or both of the "Remove from
server..." options the e-mail from the Junk e-mail folder DOES NOT get
removed from the server if you right click on Junk e-mail and choose "Empty
'Junk E-Mail' Folder". Apparently your "removing msgs from the server" in
this scenario is ONLY removed when the items are deleted from "Deleted
Items". While that, based on the description on the account settings dialog,
is technically correct I don't think it's what you meant to have happen, yes?

The work around, obviously, is to not use the "Empty 'Junk E-Mail' Folder"
option but to select all the items in the Junk E-mail folder and delete them
(move them to "Deleted Items") then go about your "normal" purge procedure
(imediately, when Outlook closes, whatever).

Outlook 2007.
Tools->Options->Mail Setup->Email Accounts->(Double-click my account)->More
Settings->check "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'".
That doesn't appear to be happening.

I also have "remove from server after xx days" checked.

Any ideas on why this is not working?

Thanks.

Several times a day I receive a virus-laden email:
From: fryerin .
First I made a message rule not to download it from server. The resulting
action however was that it was put in my Deleted Items folder.
I then changed it to Delete at Server. But it still puts it in my Deleted
Items folder.
In both cases I specified "Where the From line contains
' or 'fryerin' ".
Why is OE putting it in me Deleted itemd folder and how can I get it to
either not download it or delete it at server?

Thanks for the help!
Janet

PS In all cases my anti-virus puts the virus in the virus vault, so I am not
worried about that.

I have two computers and certain mail goes to certain computers.  Windows Mail had a mail rule "DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM SERVER".

I can not find that option in Outlook.

I need computer #1 to leave certain mail on the server so computer #2 downloads it.

How can I do this in Outlook?

as of yesterday my outlook email locks up when I try to download messages
from server. Get massage that says 3 of 4 have downloaded successfully than
before the last one does, I get error message unknown error message and none
load. i have run Outlook repair, etc. My ISP says they cannot help,
transferred me to Dell and they said the same. I can open and read existing
emails but cannot receive new ones.

I have a Windows 2003 SBS that does not accept HTML messages from Groupwise
6.5 sp2. Text formatted messages come through fine. HTML messages from
other Windows 2003 SBS servers work fine. Other Windows 2003 SBS servers
receive HTML messages from the same above listed Groupwise server.

It seems to be only this one clients SBS server not accepting the HTML
messages from one Groupwise server. I have this client trying to find
someone else they can test with that has the same configuration as the above
listed Groupwise server.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

We have performed the following:
1. Set their IP address as an authorized relay.
2. Set the Connection Filter exception to allow their IP address and the
domain name. Applied filter to SMTP virtual server and restarted.
3. Disabled all mail filtering using sunbelt-software's "I hateSpam"
4. Turned off Sonicwall email filter.
5. Disabled message size limit.
6. Disabled session size limit.
7. Disabled reverse DNS lookup.
8. Verified Annonymous access allowed

This has been going on for over 1.5 yrs now as one of our customers would, on what appears to be random occasions, not be able to send email to us.  This is what they see when they couldn't email us:

Where: some.body@mycompany.com = recipient at my company

Where: xxx@theothercompany.com = sender

Below is an NDR that the sender sees....

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
     Subject:  RE: Non-deliverable mail
     Sent:     10/15/2008 5:44 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
     some.body@mycompany.com on 10/15/2008 5:44 PM
The e-mail address could not be found.  Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address.  Check the address and try again.

Judging from the bolded, I'd say it's a misconfiguration of the "ExchangeBox.theothercompany.com" as it's not accepting their own relay.   Their IT is saying that my company's server is not accepting recursive lookup.  My company's Exchange gurus don't see the mail hitting our mail servers from the sender at all.

What say you all?

Has anyone seen where 1 account can get their mail using POP3 through a Proxy server (SP1) to an Exchange 5.5 (SP4) (separate boxes) but another account can't.
Ex. FLast@mydomain.com can get their mail using OE from home. NT account FiLast password password.
But First.Last@mydomain.com can't. NT account FLast password password. It will not accept the password. Error says the password is incorrect or mailbbox not found.
Everything is the same between these two accounts except the SMTP address. I wonder if the "." throws things wacky.
Samething with OWA to MS Proxy Server which redirects to Exchange 5.5 box. The user can get the Logon screen & NT CR appears but it will not accept the password. Yet when you do this inside the proxy it works fine.
HMMM...
Please help.
Chrissy

I know this is probably some small thing that I am just not seeing but I think I'm developing a twitch in my left eye because of it.

I'm running SBS 2003 standard edition.

Outlook Web Access works perfectly well from the server's browser, but does not work from internal clients or external clients. The clients are see the OWA login window, can login and see (in a read only state) their OWA email with all the folders but if they try to send and email, add a contact, or display public folders the interface does nothing. The email preview pane does not show up. They can't even use the "logoff" button, they need to close the browser instead.

I am totaly stumped on this one so if anyone has any seguestion please share them.

Thanks for your help!

Existing Exchange server 2007 not synchronize from new win 2k8 server

I am not familiar MS exchange server .My English languages is poor .please help me
Our existed environment using two server both are HP Proliant ML 350 series one for windows server standard edition sp2 with Domain Controller (DC & DNS) and another one for member server windows server enterprise edition 64bit with MS exchange server 2007 are working fine. Last week, Replaced old server DC and New server HP Proliant ML G5 380 installed server win2k8 standard edition 64bit with ADC from win2k3 DC that means win2k8 ADC and win2k3 DC after two days doesn’t changes anything because synchronized purposed. After, I transferred FSMO roles win2k3 to win2k8, Now dc is win2k8 with DNS working properly in win2k8 (using active integrated method)
Win2k3 still not demote because everything will be perfect finally will do. Now exchange server is working source from win2k3, when win2k3 downtime even uncheck global catalog from win2k3 server exchange server mailbox is not open because of exchange server global catalog and active directory taking from win2k3.once win2k3 has offline exchange server 2007 not open error showing global catalog and active directory not found.
Note:
Win2k3 and Exchanger server administrator name is different but new win2k8 administrator name is different might be problem for that.
Shall I run ad prep and forest prep on MS exchange server?

The following errors were reported while loading topology information:-
Get- Exchange server
Error:
Domain contact be contacted or does not exist.
The specified domain does not exist or cannot be contacted
Get-UM server
Error:
Domain contact be contacted or does not exist.
The specified domain does not exist or cannot be contacted

Will be run ad prep and forest prep on exchange server 2007?
Any one suggestion me.Pls helps me

Let me begin by saying that this is not a problem that may relate to Exchange, but I don't know of a place where people know more about mail than here.

Someone is attempting to send mail to our Exchange server, and it appears that her mail server is generating an error (shown below):
------------
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
w2ksbs1.medicalenterprises.com #5.5.0 smtp; 521 Server does not accept mail.
------------

The medicalenterprises.com domain is who is attempting to send us the email that is not getting to us. I checked, and they don't seem to be listed on any RBL servers (which our firewall is checking before allowing in), so I guess I don't know where else to turn.

If anybody can offer any advice whatsoever I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Matt

Currently all our outgoing and incoming email traffic has been routed through a third party antivirus/antispam company. However, our Exchange 2007 still accepts direct SMTP connections from   any external source.  This means that spammers can bypass our virus/spam filtering and send direct to known local accounts.
We would like to restrict incoming SMTP  to only be accepted from our antispam companies domain/IP range. Preferably using a DNS record, as the company has about 50 different IP's for it's filter services all on different subnets.
How do we do this on the exchange server rather than on our gateway/firewall? We can do this on firewall if necessary, but DNS records can not be used so we would have to manually enter all the IP's.
Thanks in advance

I am using Outlook 2003 and have my pop accounts setup to Leave a copy of
messages on the server option checke. Then I checked remove from server when
deleted from 'Deleted Items' and this is not working. When I use the web
based version to check my e-mail (Comcast.net) all the messages that I
thought where beeing deleted are not and I was running out of space on my
ISP.

I keep receiveing the same e-mails after having deleted them from Outlook.
This problem just occured, I have checked and do not have "Keep On Server"
box checked.

Outlook 2003. Exchange Server 2003. My Outlook email account is a Exchange
server connection. I have some older messages that when I double-click to
open I am prompted:

This message has not been fully downloaded from the server. Would you like
to mark it for download?

I select "Yes." However, the message body never downloads, even one and two
days later. I selected all such messages, which just consisted of headers,
and I selected "Mark to download messages." But again, these messages never
download.

What might be wrong or what must I do to make this work not only for me but
for all of our Exchange users? Thanks for the help.

I used to be able to exclude an e-mail message addressed to a specified
address from being downloaded from the ISP mail server when using Outlook
Express ( and can still do so using windows mail for Vista). I can not do so
with Outlook 2007. Is there a way? (I have 2 PCs. I use my own e-mail
address to receive my e-mail on my PC, and an e-mail address alias for the
second user on his PC (we both use the same ISP and mail account). I used
the outlook express or windows mail Message Rule "do not download it from
server" to specifiy not to download the other users mail on my PC (and vice
versa).

We have recently changed the location of our user accounts to another server
due to a space issue. The .pst have also been moved with them. However now
the users who's home directory (including their profile and .pst file) have
been copied across keep getting a password request whenever they open
Outlook. We have put in the correct password (I set up the email accounts so
I know the passwords), but it will not accept it. I have tried deleting that
Outlook account and creating a new one, with the same problem. The correct
..pst file has been found and no permission changes have been made to the
staff folders.

I have already spent 1.5 days trying to solve this issue and now desperately
need help.

I posted this issue about a week ago, but got no responses, so I figured I'd
give it another try...

I am using OL2007 to connect to a POP server to download my e-mail. I have
the setting for the e-mail account to "Leave a copy of messages on the
server" checked. I also checked "Remove from server after xx days" and
"Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'.

Outlook is leaving the messages on the server as requested, but it is not
deleting them as requested. Is there something else I need to do for this to
work?

Thanks,
Merg

Today's problems don't worry me,
I haven't solved yesterday's yet.

Outlook 2007

XP Pro SP2

ISP: Comcast

Problem: Deleted Items are not deleted from mail server

I have checked

Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'

When I use Empty Deleted Items Folder,

nothing is deleted from the Comast server.

Does this feature work with Comcast mail servers? Thanks
