Hi

I have a problem with access to the Public Folders on MS Exchange from one user account. User has view only access to Public Folders. When he trying view it, he has information:

Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. This folder cannot be opened because there is a configuration problem on the server. Contact  your Microsoft Exchange administrator for assistance.

I checked his account permissions on AD. Permissions are ok, the same permissions are for all users who have access to Public Folders.

I tried to change its permissions to full access, but did not bring the desired result.

I also logon to this user account, download MFCMapi.exe. When I try access to Public Folder i have 2 errors:

Error: Couldn't get property list from object
Code: MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR==0x80040119

Error: GetProps(NULL) failed
Code: MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR==0x80040119

Any idea, what can be wrong ?

Problem is on:

Windows Xp/Vista/7 and outlook 2007/2010.

Exchange has Sp1 and roolup 9.

Hello All!!!

i must implement a new Exchange 2003 FE Server for OWA + OMA + Active Sync.
This Server will be reacheable from internet, the restriction is, all people
access this server from internet must not have access to Public Folders.

What's the best implementation way???

No access to PF means also Free/Busy information is not available, or not???

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I´m trying to connect to Public Folders with system manager for
Exchange 2003. I get the following error message:"The HTTP service
used by Public Folders is not available, possible causes are that
Public stores are not mounted and the Information Store service is not
running. ID no:c1030af3. Exchange System Manager". I can access public
folders from my Outlook client. I have read Micrsoft KB article 840182
but the solution does not match exactly the text i see in ADSI EDIT.
At step 11 in KB 840182 it says:"Delete CN=Public Information
Store(servername)" but in my view in ADSI EDIT at the same place it
says:"CN=Public Folder Store (servername)". My question is if i am at
the right spot solving this issue?

Best regards
/Tobias

I wolud want to know if there is some way of knowing that users gain access to
public folders, the one who creates, reads, erases or modifies the exposed
elements in public folders from the outlook and from the OWA. If this
information
it stores or can store in some log and if there exists some tool that do
reports on this access. Thank you very much.

Dear Friends ,

We are using Exchange 2007 SP3 . I want to disable All users access to public folder . How can I do this ?
When I use "Public Folder Management console " under Toolbox , under Default Public Folders can see two folders named "Internet NewsGroups " and MA.00 .

Our Public folder is located under First Storage group and has the same name (Public Folder).

Thanks in advance

We currently have 2 Exchange 2k servers one being our production mail server (mailman) and the new server (isaiah) which I intend on moving everyone to. Both servers are running win 2k and exchange 2k with identical service packs.

Problem:

When I log into OWA on my new Exc2K server(isaiah) I get the following message:
"Access is denied. Your browser security settings will not allow access to this folder from this page." I click OK and have full functionality of OWA minus Public Folders.

I know I can add this as a trusted site in my security settings in IE, but I have 90 users that would have to remember to do that and we all know how big of a headach that is. Plus our current production server works great without having to add the URL as a trusted one in IE. I have copied the setup on the new server verbatim from the production Exch2K server. I can access Public Folders when I go to our http://servername.domain.com/public.

What am I missing?

i am unable to access a public folder on our exchange server. I have checked
the permissions through outlook 2003 and i have the owner permission. i have
also checked the administrative rights which i also have as a member of the
domain admins. Any ideas where else i might look or what the problem might be.
I have no problems accessing other public folders.

I have about ten users that cannot access one public folder tree off and on.
They can access all other folders without error. The folder is a third
level folder, and all permissions are set at the root. Both Default and
Anonyms have contributor permission all the way down the tree. If I add the
users directly to the fold they gain access for a few hours, then they
cannot access again. There is a 1000 users in the enterprise, and everyone
else is not having any problems. ANY IDEAS would be great.

Hi,

We have extended our exchange 2000 domain with an exchange 2007 server. From this domain we have replicated the public folders to this new server. Works ok.

Now we have added another exchange 2007 server, created a second storage group and a public folder database on it. From the other exchange 2007 we have replicated the public folders to the second exchange server. Also works ok. Folders are accessible.

However, when we shut down the first exchange 2007 server the public folders are almost inaccessible and it takes minutes to open them and sometimes you cannot open the public folders at all!

In a few days we have to move the first exchange server to another location that will be temporarily disconnected from the network. This means we cannot access the public folders.

Does anyone have a clue why we cannot access the public folders when the first exchange 2007 server has been shut down?

At this stage we can remove the public folders from the first exchange 2007 server and only have them on the second one, but will this sort our problem?

Any help is welcome! Thanks!

Frank

All,

I am looking for an easy way (one or two clicks) for end-users to access a Journal stored in a public folder. I currently have a shortcut icon on an XP desktop pointed to (with the quotes):

"Public FoldersAll Public FoldersCompanyNameContacts'Sales Journal"

This works fine from the desktop, however it opens another Outlook window even if Outlook is running when the shortcut is opened. I would prefer for this not to open a new Outlook window, but am not sure if there is a way around this.

My main question is, I have created a toolbar in Outlook and added a shortcut to the toolbar. The toolbar will only accept the following location: "Public FoldersAll Public FoldersCompanyNameContacts'Sales Journal"

I checked the path of the shortcut after the button had been created and it removed the "quotes" and added %20 for all of the spaces, I realize this is OK, however the link still doesn't work.

What can I do?!

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Joe

Hi

We're using sbs 2003 and I've set up some public folders in exchange.

Is there a way to have outlook work as a client to public folders only?

I have a spare machine and I've created a user *without* an exchange
mailbox, and it's logged in.

But when I try and set up the outlook profile i think it needs to have
an account with a mailbox attached to it.

Is there a way to use outlook as a public folder client to exchange
2003?
I don't want to have to set up another mailbox, in order for that copy
of outlook to just use the public folders?

Is there a way?
Any ideas?

Thanks

In our office we currently have a team of users who don't have direct access to my network, they're on their own network, but they have access to our meeting rooms.

I have a public folder that we use internally to keep track of when the meeting rooms are in use, I would like to set-up a general user account for the team of users mentioned above, that will only allow them to access the public folders via OWA, I don't want to enable anonymous access, I would prefer it if the account could have no access other than for public folders.

Can this be done? If so how.

TIA

Hi All,

I am trying to setup a mailbox to auto archive to a public folder.  So far I have tried setting up rules but the mail isn't moved to the public folder unless I have the mailbox open.

The reason I am doing this is because I set up a mail-enabled public folder but the company I work for needs to be able to accept NDR's and since this is not possible, I've created a mailbox.

When I was having issues with the NDR's it seemed everything I read pointed toward archiving the mail from a mailbox to a public folder but this isn't a user mailbox and there isn't anyone to to keep the mailbox open and allow it to process the rules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My boss is really breathing down my neck on this one.

Hi,

I'm not more used to public folders - but I have a requirement to config the same
I have created a Pub Folder Tree(PFDATA) and have housed this to a Pub Folder Store too...I have created some public folders like Finance,IT..
I'm required to config replica for this on another exchange server...
My Question is:
1)Should I have to create the entire structure(folders) again on another Exch Server to config replica ???
Please let me know tricks on this....Cheers!!!

System: SBS2k3, Entourage 2008, Outlook 2003

I make very heavy use of public folders, and they are email enabled. There
are users and scanners that post to the public folders by just sending an
email to the public folders name (i.e. Without the @host.com) However, lots
of the public folder file names have spaces in their name. For example, a
public folder may be named "Doe, John" and may be several folders deep (i.e.
Public Folders/clients (open)/Doe, John)

This naming convention freaks out the email clients (Entourage 08, Outlook
03). They refuse to send emails, claiming they are invalid. Is there a way
to post via email to a public folder with spaces in the name?

In IIS5.0/E2k I had setup a virdir for anon read only access to a group of calendars that were in my public folder hierarchy. I could have sworn I read an article here how to do it but I can't find it. Anyways, i need to do the same thing with IIS6.0/E2k3 but am having a little difficulty. The permissions on the public folders are correct, and anon access is on and is set to be read only, but I still get 403 access denied errors. Am I missing something?

During the process of messing around with an exchange server installation, we were trying to figure out a way to deny users the ability the create folders in the public folders directory when accessing through windows explorer. Anyways, eventually the mistake was made of changing the security setting within exchange system manage to deny Everyone access. This of course locked that folder completely and now we can not view the folder in the system manager, although the folder is still accessible through other means. Since we are unable to change security settings for the folder through explorer is there any way for us to regain the ability to change the settings through exchange system manager?

Hello,

I have a problem with my Exchange 2000, as I just tried to open the Public
Folder in the System Manager I got this message:

The object is no longer available
Press F5 to try again
ID No 800040e19
Exchange System Manager

I also cannot connect to the mailboxes with Outlook Wb Access
What can I do?
