lost email folder

I was working in outlook 2007 when the program froze and had to be restarted.
one of my inbox subfolders and all of its contents had disappeared. Any
thoughts on where it is and how to get it back? I have it backed up if
needed, would really just like to find and get it displayed again.
Thanks

Hi-

I accidentally deleted my "saved emails" folder from my Personal
Folders in outlook 2003 and later emptied the "deleted items" folder.
I lost over a year's worth of important email! Before I defrag my
hard drive (much needed), is there ANY WAY I can recover these
emails?? (they were not left on the IMAP email server). Doesn't
Microsoft hide them somewhere or archive them somehow in case an idiot
like me makes this mistake? (they do not seem to be part of my
archive.pst backup file when I opened that to look at what was saved
there). I searched my computer for other .pst files, but none
contained the lost email folder. Is there any way to "roll back" to a
previous version of my .pst the same way I can roll back my system
files to a prior version?

Thanks!
Jonathan

I have just opened my Outlook Express and notice that my main email folder
has disappeared, how can I get it back please.
Thanks

I accidentally dropped an email folder over my folder structure and I don't
know what folder it dropped into. I can find the messages it contains with
advanced search which gives me the folder name. But it doesn't tell me the
entire folder hierarchy so I can find the folder and put it back where it
belongs. Any thoughts?

Hi, I recently used the Microsoft Office 2007 60 day trial and at the end of
I wanted to revert back to using microsoft 2000. I clicked "NO" to converting
the trial and then closed it off. Resinstalled my old microsoft outlook and
none of my emails are in there. I have tried to import but it doesn't give me
outlook 2007 as an option to import from. I didn't do any back-ups or
anything like that because I wasn't aware that I needed to.
Please help! Is there anyway of retrieving my lost emails (from inbox as
well as personal folders?)
Thanks, Rachel

Ok folks got a beauty of a problem and cant find the answer anywhere on net.

I have recently changed a number of users from POP3 outlook (connecting to Merak) setup to SMTP (using Exchange 2007).

Some users have then since used the "Move To Folder" button and complained that they have lost emails or can no longer find them.

I addressed this with one user and could only ascertain that the some "cached" entries in the drop down list of "Move to Folder" refered back to the old POP3 entries.

I overcame this by using the option several times to remove the "bad cache" entries and the user in the 1st instance didnt mind the lost emails.

However another user has had he same problems and her email is critical and has lost mail going back a few week.

Is appears that the email has dissappeared into never never land.
I have done an "advanced find" but with no joy.

Can anyone provide any insight or a way to recover these lost emails??

PS. the drag and drop and right click "Move to Folder" options work fine.

Lost all the email folders in outlook express. tried to get them back with
the import but was unable to. I found all the folders that I am missing in
the recycle bin marked as a .BAK when I do a restore they move back to the
original folder and stay as a .BAK. I tried renaming them to a .dbx in hopes
that they can be imported - but I get "No messages can be found in this
folder or another application is running that has required files open"

Can anyone help me get thes back?

Hello,

I have a problem with lost emails from Outlook 2007 and it would be of extreme importance for me to recover them, if at all possible. Ill try to explain what happened in detail and will be very grateful for any assistance.

In Outlook 2007 I have "Personal folders" and "Archive folders".
I had a number of emails (quite a few, maybe ~1000) in the "Deleted Items" folder.
I selected all of them and DRAG n DROPED em into a Folder name Archive 2010 in Archive folders part.
I was asked to confirm, a msg saying something along the lines that it might take some time to do so. Confirmed.

The process took a while (few minutes) at the end of which the following happened:
- all emails were removed from Delted Items
- NO emails apeared in the destination folder
- a "new email" apeared with a number of attchements - email msgs attached

I tried to send the email to myself, but upon sending it stoped responding and that email was lost.

Now the reason why I believe the lost emails *are* somewhere, is because my Outlook data file (.pst) titled "outlook" has ~512 mb , while all my (not lost) emails ammount to ~100 mb.

However, I cannot find them in any folders within outlook.

Please, if anyone has any ideas, help me with this problem.
Much obliged for all answers and help
Fran

Just today, I lost the ability to "empty" my junk email folder in Outlook
2007. Any suggestions?
By the way, the "x" on the folder is not there any longer either.

I have just done an Easy Transfer (by cable) from my old XP PC to my new
Vista PC. Both had MS Outlook loaded as email. After the transfer the
emails previously in the folders of my New PC had vanished and been replaced
by those imported from the old PC. Needless to say I had neglected to make
back-ups or use Auto Archive!! Does anyone know how I can retrieve the lost
email folders or where they may have been moved to? I have tried a System
Restore, but this has not changed Outlook back to the earlier position.
Help!

I have lost an email folder in Outlook (not OE). It is stll there somewhere
as it shows receiving email. Have checked folder list, subfolders etc but it
is not in any of them

I have a user that lost email while draging and droping folders from
his inbox into a PST.
He was offline when this took place and the folders made it into the
PST but not the messages. Any Ideas?

I attempted to add hotmail as a new email account in outlook and whilst doing
so, i hit the "add a new directory" which replaced all my old mail folders
(previously obtained when on MS Echange and no longer obtainable). Is there
any way this can be reversed or can someone please tell me how to recover the
emails, thanks.
Please note that the hotmail link never worked!

Using: Windows XP and Outlook 2003

After putting up with a duplicate Personal Files folder for at least two
years, I finally found a fix, posted on microsoft.com only last October.
Unfortunately, when I printed it out, the first instruction, "Move the .PST
files to a different directory", ended up printing continuous with the
header, and I missed it. The result was that when I set up my new Outlook
arrangement, it copied its PST files over the old ones, and I lost all
emails, sent and received, between last February and last evening.

This morning I discovered that a search with the Google Desktop Search finds
at least some of those lost emails somewhere. Where could they possibly be,
and how can I move them into Outlook? I've been running the Windows Search
Companion to look for file content, but the little dog hasn't found anything
so far.

I have one user that has lost all of her Outlook information. We're on a
Windows SBS 2003 network with roaming profiles. I moved the system from one
desk to another and after rebooting the machine all the information is gone.
It sort of acts like Outlook somehow created a duplicate profile. If I try
to change which address book it shows two different ones call contacts. One
of them has her contacts and the other is empty. When you click contacts on
the main screen it will not show the profile that has the information.
Also, all of the email folders are gone and are reset back to the new
account settings. In Outlook Express I would re-import the old emails from
the Identities folder but I can't get that to work in Outlook. Does anyone
have any suggestions where the information might be and how I can get it
back?

Thanks for the help!

I had a sytem failure on this pc and when I restarted the pc many of my
settings for programs were set to the original settings.
This is when I found out all my email, approx 10 GB was lost.
In looking at where emails are stored, I have two folders,{C61E7843.....}
which is the currently email file Outlook Express is working with. The
other file {DFF1657....} which has all my other email is not being accessed
by OE.

How do I get the email folders in the D file into the active C folder? Or,
since there are many more folders is D than in C, can I change the location
to the D folder for OE to go to then move the few folders in C to the D
folder.

As a side note, I am getting a new laptop and will be using Outlook for
mail.

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi:

What is the easiest and best way to back up all email folders within OE6
and what procedures would you use to restore selected emails or folders?

Also is there freeware available that will open .DBX files individually?

I recently had to reformat my computer and I lost all my emails because I
had not backed them up.

Thanks
