Hello again to all experts!I'm looking for a tool to move mailboxes to another site. There are 2 tools.
BindView (extremly expensive)MailboxMigration Manager by AutomationSpecialists (doesnt work in my configuration)Is there any other possibility to do this automatically, not with ExMerge from the resource kit? Thanks

We have  SBS exchange 2003 SP2 server running and we want to move all the mailboxes to another server running SBS2003 exchange.

I've managed to move most of the mailboxes to the other server using the exchange move wizzard but the few remaining mailboxes are over 1gb -9gb with corrupt mails.

error msg log: summary isWarning="false" errorCode="0xc1050115"

I've archived mailboxes and no joy.

Any ideas?

Hello,

I'm decommissioning our first/only E2K server and the last mailbox to
move to E2K3 belongs to the Exchange service account.

Paranoid question: is it safe to move that mailbox to another server?

AFAIK we only used the mailbox to install the Outlook Security
Settings public folder. We moved it from Ex5.5 to E2K years ago.

Thanks,

- Alan.

Hi all, I hope you can help me.

We are running Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003, and use Office 2003 on the client side.

We have built a second Exchange server in another office and joined it into
our site. It is configured OK and there are no problems with it. We also have
2 OWA front-end servers as the SMTP gateways and OWA cluster. Some of the users here are
being moved to the other office and their mailboxes are obviously going with
them.

Using the ADUC snap-in, we have migrated many of the users' mailboxes to the
second server, however we have found that upon doing so, their rules do not work. These are
simple rules, such as messages from sender X move to folder Y and so on. The
rules worked on the original exchange server, however upon moving the
mailbox the rules do not work. If you recreate them they do not work either. New
rules created in this mailbox do not work either.

Rules created on new mailboxes on the new server work OK. Moving the mailbox back to
the original server also makes the original rules work OK.

Does anyone know what could be the problem and how this can be fixed?

I guess the only option would be not to move the mailboxes using the ADUC
snap-in, but exporting the mailbox, creating a new one on the new server and
importing the mailbox. However I am not 100% sure even this will work.

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve the mailbox move / rules problem I
would be most grateful.

Thanks

Andoni

After moving a mailbox from one exchange server to another within the same administrative group, the user's Outlook 2007 doesn't know that the mailbox has been moved and it still tries to access the mailbox from the old exchange server.
There's a plan to mass move the mailboxes to another exchange server so this is an issue if we need to change the exchange server that the Outlook is pointing to on each users' Outlook.

Does it take time for the Outlook 2007 to realize that the mailbox has been moved or does it need to be manually changed?
If it needs to be manually changed, is there a script or gpo that can change the exchange server that the Outlook is pointing to?

Thanks

I have tried to move one mailbox from server a to server B, meaning that the box which situates in storage group database A, moving to another storage group database B.

It didn't work properly, how can I check errors of transfer? In eventlog I find info that the moving starts, but then nothing about the transfer, did it go well or why not or did it moved at all.

The box is now in another database but is not working.. *argh* would like to somehow analyze why it didn't go properly, how I do that? perhaps some relay prob or somekind.. *hmm*

Ideas? or is there a way to make a special filter or specific event log for such transfer situations?

Hi guys,

I am a new to exchange 2007, I administer my local exchange server 2007 in our branch, I do not have full access to most of the exchange components.
I have 3 storages in my exchange server, I need to move a mailbox from 1 storage to another, yet I does not work and show error message every time I try to move a mailbox.
I beleive it is previllage problem, so what access right do I need to perform this task?

Thank you for your help

How do I move mailboxes from an Exchange 2000 Server to an Exchange 2003
Server in another Site?

When I go into Active Directory Users and Computers and go into Exchange
Tasks of a user's mailbox the only options I get are "Delete Mailbox" and
"Remove Exchange Attributes".

Currently the Exchange 2000 Server is at Service pack 3 and the OS is
Windows 2000 Server Service pack 4.

Thanks in advance

Greg

Recently on our Exchange 2000 server our backup has been failing due to a possible corrupt mailbox store in our first storage group. The original PRIV1

Rather than risk losing access to the entire store i have been moving users mailboxes to another existing store in the same storage group with the objective of not having to worry if the said corrupted mailstore will mount again etc if i start doing checks on it.

I have now all mailboxes moved from the corrupted store and i'm wondering what to do with the 3 remaing system mailboxes (smtp, system attendant and system mailbox)since my intention is to delete the priv1.edb and priv1.stm and create a new store.

I'd appreciate if if someone could advise me the correct way of proceeding from here.

Thanks

Alyson

Good afternoon

i have a query regarding microsoft outlook's adding another users' mailbox
to my account and i haven't been able to obtain an answer in my search on the
net.

I have done the routine of going to my tools menu, clicking on view/change
existing email account and going to more settings and gonig onto the advanced
tab and adding ther person's name of the mailbox i need to access. I now have
his details there when i open my outlook express but i need assistance/advice
on settings to allow me to access the actuall inbox/outbox and various items
that should be listed under the Mailbox - Name of person added.

Do you possibly have any adice that might help me.

Anyone know of a way to Batch move mailboxes from Server1 to Server2 within the same Exchange 2003 SP2 environment ?   Or even to move an entire Mailbox Store ?

Would love to just move an entire Store from Server1 to Server2 if there was a way.

Also any known Tools to help do this type of move between Exchange Servers ?

Thanks,
David

We believe there is a user that is using email inapporpriately. Can we copy
everything in there mailbox to another user account. We did add the function
where all emails incoming and outgoing go to an account but we need emails
back at the first of the year and we just started this. We are running
win2000 with exchange 2000.

Hi,
We are running Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000 server. I just built a
Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. When I "right mouse" click on the
mailboxes in the Exchange system Manager on the Exchange 2000 system, it does
not have the option for "exchange tasks" to move the mailboxes to the new
exchange 2003 server. It does give me the option in "AD". It's a slower
process to move it through AD. Any thoughts to add the feature in the
Exchange 2000 system manager?

Dear Supporters,

I would like to move my Exchange Server to another server in another domain. The domainservers are on the same subnett 192.168.11.x.

When I open ESM on the old server and run the wizard to move the mailboxstore the option to pick a server and storage group the option is grayed out.

How can I make the old server to bw aware of the new server?

Both servers are configures with Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003.

Thank you very much for all your help!

ALSO: Any suggestion about how to move the public folders to the new server?

Best regards,

Thomas, Norway.

We're running out of disk space on our C: drive so I plan to move Exchange to another volume using ESM, however we also make heavy use of fax integration with a mailbox, as in MS Article 311529.

I'm concerned that moving Exchange will break this, so can anyone comment on the problems I'm likely to face?

TIA

Stephen

Hello,

I'm been given the opportunity to play around with a W2K Adv. Server and Exchange 2000 Server at my work.

But now I've litterally messed the W2K configuration up, and I need to reinstall it in order to make it right (I'm still quite new to this).

So, I've just got one question:

Is it possible to move/copy the mailboxes to another server, so that the 2. exchange server (the newly formatted one), becomes like an identical copy of the previous one?

I hope you can help me.

Thx. in advance.

Hi,

I have seven administrative groups and am in Exchange 2000 native mode. Most of the servers are now exchange 2003. When I move a mailbox to another server in another Administrative Group, the mailbox moves successfully, but the Administrative group on the user object never updates to the new group. Any ideas?

I have an Exchange 2000 server that is also my domain controller. I need to move all my exchange mailboxes off that server and put them on a different Exchange 2000 server. It is the same version but different name.

I tried the migration tool but it says it can only migrate from an exchange server from outside the domain. How can I move my databases over? I only have three. Pub1, priv1, MainEmail.

I also tried copying the databases from my old server over the databases on my new server. They mount if I allow it to override with a restore. But I don't see any usaer mailboxes if I expand those databases. I believe because the users mailbox exchange paths still point to the original Exchange servers "name" and not the new one.  I would  think they should just have a tool that allows you to move these mailboxes to another exchange server within the same domain.

Thanks for any help

I'm seeing a very strange issue with my Outlook2007 (against
Exchange)...
Sent items disappear if i move them to another folder...!

Steps:
1. Send an email. Sent email gets saved under Outlook's default
"MailboxSentItems" folder.

2. Go to that SentItems folder, and move the mail to another folder
(let's say "Foobar") under your inbox.

3. Go to "Foobar", make sure mail is still there.

4. Let Outlook Sync up with Exchange server (or hit "Send and
Receive").

5. You will notice that the mail disappears... !

I did a full text search in my mail box.. couldn't trace the lost mail
anywhere!

Interesting thing is, i have another machine that runs Outlook2003,
against the same exchange server.
I do not see this behavior on that machine.... "Sent Mail" remains
intact even after i move it to another folder and even after OL2003
sync's up with exchange.

Also, the above behavior is not reproducible on an OL2007+POP mailbox.

It only seems to happen when i point OL2007 to an exchange server.

I did a lot of search on the web to see if this is a known issue in
OL2007+Exchange. But i did not find any references.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I should have completely installed Exchange to a drive on our SAN. I don't want to move just the Messages but would like to have Exchange completely installed to a different drive, not C. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall Exchange to another drive or is there an easier way to completely move Exchange to another drive that is on the SAN? This is the only Exchange Server.

How can i move Mailbox on Exchange server to an other drive (i.e. I installed Ms Exchange to C partiton an i now want move mailbox to D partition. Do only Move Database & log is quite. )
Best Regard
