I can send email just fine, but when I try to recieve it I receive "error
0x80040154". What could be causing it?

rencently upgraded from office 2000 to 2007
When I try to download email, I download 96 messages then I get a send/
receive error then followed by the 0x80040154 error. I keep getting the same
96 emails. I finally had the emails wiped off the server, thinking I had a
corrupt email causing the problem, but still get the error and can't download
any new emails. I can send email out. Tried deleting the email account and
starting over, no luck.

Any suggestions?

recently bought a new laptop with preinstalled office 07 - don't want that as
i had office 2003 and it was just fine. installed office 03 - all works
except outlook...on startup i get dialog box:
intnernet explorer script error
line 298
char 1
file name or class not found during automation operation
code 0
url outlook:today
do you want to continue running scripts on this page? yes/no

task sending reported following error

i choose yes or no and then get following when send/receive is clicked:

task send reported following error 0x80040154

is there some kind of conflict between the preinstalled 07 application and
my 03 outlook...any ideas how this can be resolved?

Can't receive any emails - received this message of 0x80040154

I can send email with no problems - already re-did my profile.

Running Vista Ultimate with Outlook 2003

On send/receive i get unknown error (0x80040154) in Outlook 2010 in Vista (Laptop).

This error only takes place when there are messages to download from the server. If there are no messages, this error does not take place.

I had problems getting Outlook (2000) to run in Windows 7 64 bit so I uninstalled it and installed Office 2010.  I can sucessfully send email, but receiving always errors out with 0x80040154.  The email is downloaded, the status shows it reading mail 1..51 of 51, but then it ends with the error.  The strange thing is that receiving worked fine after I installed it (4 wks ago), then I left for a month vacation, and now after doing all the Microsoft updates, and Norton (NIS) updates, this error occurs.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1. uninstalled NIS, rebooted, no help.

2. used msconfig to setup a safe boot, with everything disabled except microsoft services, rebooted, same problem.

3. created a new mail profile and set it as the default, restarted outlook, same problem.

Receiving "Unknown error 0x80040154" error message in Outlook 2010 with send/receive

just installed Office 2010 but Outlook is giving Undknown error code 0x80040154 when receiving email.  Send works.  See messages trying to come in on lower right send/receive bar

Recently installed Outlook 2010, it properly sent and received email from ATT account.  Subsequent efforts to receive email from my ATT account fail to receive the messages.  The error message is 0x80040154.  I verified the pop and smtp server settings and profile setting with an ATT rep and also reset the servers settings inthe Outlook profile.  Everything matches but still no email.  I am using Kaspersky anti virus,  the windows firewall, and Windows XP sp3.  Any ideas?

Can someone help me with the problem below?

I have 1 exchange 2000 & exchange 2003. Exchange 2003 is actually used to upgrade exchange 2000 which is installed on a domain controller.

I just recently removed exchange 2000 server from the domain controller. After I did that, I got the error below from application log of the domain controller. AND Exchang 2003 will not start.

I 'm just wondering if I can just reinstall exchange 2003 on the server to fix the problem.
Any help is appreciated.

I have written a web method to return a dataset containing all properties on
an Exchange Queue. This works fine when I run it against Exchange on a
single server, but when I try and run it against an Exchange Cluster I get
an COMException(0x80040154): Class not registered error.

I use this WMI namespace: root/cimv2/applications/exchange
and this WMI class: ExchangeQueue

Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

My ARCServe BrightStore backup software will no longer perform a bricks-level
backup (information store backup works fine). The bricks-level backup uses
MAPI functions where the information store backup does not. The ARCServe tech
support finally determined the problem is with my Exchange 2000 server and
not their software. The only change I made to my network recently is I
upgraded my Windows 2000 domain to a Windows 2003 domain using domainprep and
forestprep because I wanted to upgrade only my domain controllers to Windows
2003. My Exchange 2000 server is sitting on a Windows 2000 Server with
Windows 2000 Server SP4. Exchange 2000 has Exchange Server 2000 SP3 with the
post-SP3 August 2004 rollup installed. My App Log on my Exchange server shows
"An unexpected MAPI error occurred: 0X80040154. Also ProfMan2 shows a
MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND. Any thoughts?

I am getting several:

"Failed to access the metabase, error code is 80040154 (Class not registered)."

And after reboot:

Msg - Error initializing session for virtual machine "server". The error number is 0x8004011d. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running.

Msg - The MAD Monitoring thread was unable to read its configuration from the DS, error '0x80040154'.

We have only had Exchange now for 2 months, and it worked fine up until a few days ago. Cannot seem to pinpoint the issue, but trying to restart the "store", and restart services, and even rebooting, nothing clears it. Actually first noticed there was a problem when we could not access through OWA. The messages repeat bin the Event Log every minute or so.

We are not experts by any means either, so hopefully this is an easy fix. appreciate your help.

I am in the proccess of performing a Exchange 2003 SP2 to Exchange 2007 SP1
transition. During the initial installation all the prereq check passed but
during the installation of Client Access Role, it failed with the following
error message:

An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory

The event viewer showed this error as Exchange setup error with event ID

The server that I'm trying to install Exchange 2007 SP1 on is a brand new
Windows 2003 R2 X64 with the latest service pack and updates, IIS installed
with ASP.NET 2 SP1.

I then was told to perform the follow:

1. Remove failed installation of Exchange 2007 SP1
2. Remove .net Framework 2.0 & IIS6
3. Reinstall .net Framework 2.0
4. Reinstall IIS6
5. Run Exchange 2007 SP1 setup again

I ran Exchange 2007 setup again and recieved a same type of error but addressed at a different location please see below:

I recently installed IE7 7.0.5730.11 and it seems that around the same time

I previously posted a similar question (but it has disappapeared) and the

My problem is that I ran a registry cleaner/fixer (XP Repair Pro 2007) but
after doing so Outlook 2000 would no longer receive emails (never got round
to trying to send). I got an error message saying accounts not properly
registered reinstall and reference 0x80040154. I have tried to install new
accounts via 'Mail' in control panel etc but that does not work in Outlook

Error 0x80040154

Hi all
I just set up a new computer with a new installation of Office 2003 with all
the service packs. I installed the service packs before I had set up the
email acounts in Outlook. When I try to configure the email accounts and
then send and receive I get the following error message ( on different
accounts the same error message)
Task ' - Sending' reported error (0x80040154) : 'Unknown
Error 0x80040154'
Does anyone know where to start on trying to sort out this error? I have
noticed that the script that was used to install Windows XP has removed
Outlook Express but I am unsure which files Outlook uses from Outlook
Express to send and receive email.

Any pointers will be appreciated.

I just formatted and did a clean install of XP Home. When I installed
Outlook (98), the email function didn't work. On attempting to send I
received a notice that "Internet Mail is not registered properly. Please
reinstall it. Error 0x80040154."

Attempting to receive mail I got a notice that the "messages couldn't be
received from the server."

I uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook to no avail. My ISP said that all of
my email settings were correct and that error number indicated a corrupted,
shared .dll file.

Outlook 98 fits my business, and I would hate to have to spend a hundred
dollars for the current edition, especially if I ran into the same problem
with it as I have with 98. Any suggestions?

I am trying to load outlook express and it won't start. I get two error
messages. The first says the application is unable to open the message stroe
(0x80040154,14007) and the second says MSOE.DLL could not be initialised.

Any help would be gratefully received
