Adding gmail accounts to Outlook 2003

I'm in the process of converting to Outlook 2003 from windows mail. I have
several gmail accounts. If I setup these accounts as IMAP accounts will all
of the messages on the gmail server be downloaded again?

Also, is there anyway of getting Outlook 2003 to import or recognize the
accounts in windows mail? I recall Outlook recognizing that there were new
accounts in windows mail and offering to add them to Outlook but I have not
gotten that prompt in a long time. I don't see an option to import the
settings using iaf files like OE or windows mail offers so I know that is
not an option.

thanks,

how can i set up my gmail account to outlook 2003

I have been attempting to add a few pop3 email accounts to Outlook 2003.  I go throught the setup process and add them, test them successfully, then click finish.  After that the new email account does not show up on my sidebar where all the other email accounts show.   What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

I'm running a SBS 2003 R2 and currently have each networked PC setup with an
exchange email account. I have stopped using the exchange email accounts and
would like to setup a (IMAP) Gmail account and I was able to setup the
account through (outlook 2003) tools, account settings and adding a new
account on a laptop that was not networked but when I try this on the
networked PCs it does not work.
I’m going to try to change some server settings but any help would be
appreciated.

I added my wowway e-mail account to Outlook 2003. I entered all the correct
pop3 server information, as provided by wow. I ran the test and all checked
out. I can send from that account in Outlook, but no messages show up in the
inbox. I have to go online to wowway to view my messages. I have an aol
account in Outlook as well and it works fine. Any advice?

Hi friends,

This is my first post here.

I use Microsoft Outlook for organizing my mails. I have been using gmail for quite a while now with over 3000 mails in the inbox. Few days ago I re- installed MS Office on my PC and to my dismay all the previously downloaded emails were gone.

I have set up my gmail account on outlook and currently have emails I received since December 09. But I would like the entire gmail inbox to be downloaded into my outlook.

I am beginner ... So a step by step guide would be really of a great help

Warm regards.

- Josh

Does anyone know how to add an additional mailbox to Outlook 2003 so that I
can see mail from an additional Outlook Web Access account using my normal
Outlook client which is on another POP server?

I have been struggling with this. Can't find a way.

I recently set up two GMail accounts in Outlook 2003. We'll call them Acct A(default acct) and Acct B. I have no problem viewing both Inboxs seperately however is there a way to send emails from Acct B?

Example: When Acct B's Inbox is highlighted and i create a new mail, the "from" address defaults to Acct A. How can i change that so the email is from Acct B?

Let me know if I'm not making any sense.

Thanks.

I recently took over management of an unorganized server. They have Exchange 2010, and recently migrated from an older version on another server.

The problem is, when I attempt to add an Exchange account to Outlook, I type in the server name when it asks for it, but when I click "Check Name" to verify the account, the server name changes to the old, decommissioned server name.

New server name: jac-sbs2011
Old server name: jac-sbs

Screenshot of what server name should be:

Screenshot of results after clicking Check Name

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
I'd like to add a second POP mail account to Outlook 2003, but I'd like it
to appear under a seperate heading (like a Hotmail account does). Is that
possible?

TIA for any advice...

Hi all,

We have transferred some Eudora accounts to Outlook 2003. However, all
emails from Eudora are read in plain text format. Some are readable, some are
not.

The emails that cannot be read display as the source code for html, e.g

etc.

Can anybody help please: Why is that and how to convert them (lots of them)
to html format?

ps, the current setting for Outlook 2006 is: 'unticked' beside 'Read
standard email as plain text' in Options-Email Options

Thanks in advance

Toto

I have upgraded from Outlook Express (which worked fine with my accounts) to
Outlook 2003. Now I receive all my emails in duplicate every time I re-open
Outlook 2003? Literally Outlook 2003 goes in seach of the 100's of emails
still sitting on the mail servers and puts them into the Inbox again. Any
suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Martin M

I would like to move my email settings and messages from Windows Mail to

In order to soft the problem of not receiving hotmail emails in Outlook (error codes 4102 and 8de00002), the solution that worked was to delete and then add my hotmail account to Outlook.  Since doing this, I now have multiple folders both in email, calendar and contacts.  How can I remove the extra profile (in this case, called "contactbackup"?

Thanks for your help.

Can anyone please help me? I am having a heck of a time getting my gmail
account to properly configure in my Outlook 2003. I have run through the set
up many many times and I have the right info entered for the POP3 and SMTP
incoming/outgoing servers. I can receive with no problem, and I can often
send OK, but every few days my emails just get stuck and won't send. The
error message says:

I have configured other email addresses to come through Outlook without this
kind of trouble. THANK YOU in advance for whatever help you can give me!!!

I have 2 email accounts one is '@msn.com' and I have added it to outlook no
problem.

I have another email account '@myavon.co.uk' and am having real trouble
adding this as I do not know the email server name or URL that avon use for
these accounts. I have asked them the question but they do not seem to
understand what I am asking.

Is there anyway I can add this to my outlook to be able to send and receive
emails or what do I need to ask Avon for them to understand what I need?

Any help or guidence will be greatly received. Thanks

I created a folder under my Gmail account in Outlook 2003. I then dragged a
message from the Inbox to that folder. After doing this, the message doesn't
disappear from the inbox in Outlook -- instead it appears with strikethrough
(as if I pressed the delete key). In the target folder it appears without
strikethrough.

After Imap syncing the message DID appear under the corresponding label in
Gmail's web interface. However, the message ALSO still appeared in the inbox.

If I do purge deleted messages in Outlook, the message then disappears from
the Inbox but it also disappears from the folder I moved it to (even though I
didn't delete it from that folder). And on Gmail's side, the message gets
moved to Trash.

So, how can I move messages from the inbox to another folder in Outlook and
have them end up ONLY in the moved-to folder?

I know I can (and have) set up filters in the web interface to auto-move
messages to folders based on content and by checking the archive box they
appear only in the target folder and not in the inbox -- that's great for
recurring content but not for the occasional one-off message I simply want to
put in a different folder.

I know I can also do the move manually via the web interface and it will
also work fine. However, I'd like to be able to do all my work in Outlook and
not have to keep switching to the web interface for managing the folders
(labels).

Until now, I've accessed my work email through the online client (it uses a POP server). But earlier today, I added the account to Outlook so that I could see my older emails offline as well.

But after I did this, every single one of my past emails (going back years) was deleted from the online client though I can see all of them on Outlook. This is disastrous, since I need to access my work email from public computers as well.

Please help me import my old emails back to the web client! If it helps, the web client is Zimbra.

Thanks very much for your help,
Rachel
