Error "System error 5 has occurred" trying to set the system time using NET TIME on XP

Gurus,

I am NOT an administrator of my Windows XP SP3 workstation. BUT I do have
rights to change the system time. I am able to set the time on the machine
causing the Control Panel Date/Time applet. But if I try to set it using
the command line, I get an error. Any ideas why?

C:>net time dim8300 /set /y
System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

Hi,

I have to write an Outlook 2003 COM add-in that prints the active item to a
perticular printer. I have used a toolbar button for this purpose. Clicking
the button will direct the print to my printer. This is my idea.

I searched through the Outlook object model and I could not find a method to
set the active printer in any of the Outlook interfaces. I had wrote similar
add-ins in other Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). All
these applications have interface functions put_ActivePrinter() &
get_ActivePrinter(). Only information I have is that Outlook takes the system
default printer as the active printer at startup and use the last used one
when a user manually changes/print to a printer.

Please help me if anyone has any idea to set the active printer in Outlook.

Thanks

I just installed the new office 2010, but after using transfer file software from window 7, eveything work fine except -

1) when writing new email, while I type in the receipent  name, it couldn't automatically look for the email address. even if I client the "search name" button, there is no desinated address book in the list.

2) I tried to set the address book, in the Contact folder, but noting in there neither for selection.

3) so i go to the accounting setting, there are two MAPI files, one is My Contact, and another one Mobile.  What are these for?

Hope someone can help me

When I try to set up the log file directory in exchange system manager to enable message tracking, I get the error "an erorr occurred during a call to windows management instrumentation with the code 80041013" in the change log file directory location. I cannot enable message tracking. When I try to track a message I get the error; "Search cannot be completed. Check to see that Exchange management service is running".

This problem is driving me nuts. I cannot find anything on Microsoft technet that corresponds to the error. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I have a PC which is not connected to Exchange, so I have create an email
template stating I am unavailable and set up a rule to reply to all incoming
message addressed to me using the template.
At first I kept getting a "Error running rule. Cannot rule rule" message
whenever I enabled the rule.
So I uninstalled and installed MS Office (2003 SBE, forgot to mention that
earlier) and did up the rule again. It ran the first time, but has not run
since, even though I am getting new emails in my inbox.
Is there any way for me to check the rules are trying to run (and possibly
failing)?

MCSE 2000

I have set up a new IMAP mail account with several subfolders for incoming
messages.
There are in total several thousand emails between all these folders, often
with attachments.
When I launch OE6 it often gives me the following error message:

An error occured trying to initialize internal data fir the newsgroup
'Inbox' on the account 'ronnie'

The name of the IMAP account is indeed ronnie, but I have no newsgroup
services set up at all in this (or any other) profile.

I have tried deleting the profile and creating a new one but the fault still
recurrs.

For a couple of weeks I notice that the Exchange (2003) Sustem Attendant
service won't start on reboot.

The server before was windows 2000 server upgraded to windows 2003

I can then manualy start it only if I change the time on a exchange
server (which is also a DC and holds all FSMO roles in domain) one hour
ahead. Otherwise I get the folowing errors in the event viewer:

As I've noticed the only way to start System Attendant is to set the
time on this particular server one hour ahead. Someone has encountered
this error before? What is the way to resolve it? One more detail,
before, the time on this server was one hour ahead of the current time,
but then it was changed to correct time. After that I believe we have
started having this problem. But even if we change the server time it
would after some time turn back to the correct time.

Scenario:

Site collection: NT Authenticated users have read permissions
Site: NT Authenticated users have read permissions
Document library: Employee has "limited Access"
Folder: Employee has Add/Edit permissions (a custom permission level based
on the default Contribute permission with delete removed)

User trieds to set an alert on the document library FOLDER where they have
permissions. They get through the entire configuration page and click ok to
set the alerts, and they get an Access Denied error.

Where have the permissions been broken to deny the user the right to set
alerts. A site admin can set the alert for the user, but if the user tries
to edit the alert, they get the same access denied error? I found a blog
post that suggested that the user needs read permissions at the site
collection level, but as you see, these users do, and are still getting the
access denied error.

The permissions are intended to provide a secure folder for accounting staff
in diverse phycial locations submit documents to a consolidated corporate
accounting group. The accounting staff in the diverse locations need to be
locked down so they can only see their own folders/documents, while the
consolidated group has access to multiple/all folders.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Windows 2003 Sp1
Exchange 2003 Sp1 (Clustered)

Hi Everyone,
When I try to access the Directory Access tab on our Exchange 2003 Server
through the Exchange system manager I get the following error message...
Information about directory services could not be entirely obtained. Check
to see that the Microsoft Management service is running on the Exchange 2000
or Exchange 2003 server.
This service is running.
Also in the Exchange System Manager on the General tab of the Exchange 2003
server, the Log file directory box has the following message...
The RPC server is unavailable.

Facility: Win32
ID no: 800706ba
Exchange System Manager

I have turned up logging on the MSEXCHANGEDSACCESS but no error messages
have been reported.

We are running exchange 2003 in a Veritas cluster. When we run Netdiag on
the active node all of the LDAP queries fail. When we run it on the passive
node we don't get any LDAP errors.

Does anyone know how to fix these errors? Or is this a result of the
cluster environment?

Thanks,
Luc

I'm working with Windows 7.  We're trying to set up a contact list that everyone in the office has access to.  We are on a network and have been using Microsoft Outlook a while now, but never knew there was an option for setting up contacts so that other people in the office could see them from their computers.

Any input is appreciated.

Thank you.

I am getting error code OX800CCC78 when I try to send and email in Outlook 2003.  I get "server responded 550 5.1.0 authentication required"  I have checked with my ISP & all of my settings are correct.  I am trying to reinstall office 2003 (I have disc) but it won't let me because it is looking for an earlier version of office.  I installed office 2003 on this machine when it was new when my old computer failed.

Trying to set up a Delivery Restriction

I had one mailbox with two email address support@companya.com & mail@companya.com

We want to stop all emails being delivery from Postmaster@companyB.com that goes to mail@companyA.com BUT we DON'T want to restrict emails from Postmaster@companyB.com that goes to support@companyA.com.

I made a contact with the stmp address of Postmaster@companyB.com
I then remove the email address mail@companyA.com from the above user
I thought the best option would be to set up another mailbox with the email address of mail@companya.com, under the "Exchange General" tab I select "Delivery Restrictions" and clicked "Accept messages from everyone expect" added the new user for postmaster@companyB.com. Next I went to delivery options and choose the forward to option and select the user that had the email support@companyA.com

I thought this would have work e.g.
Emails to mail@companyA.com would come into the exchange system, emails from postmaster@companyB.com would be stripped out then the rest would be sent to support@companyA.com

This does not seem to be stripping out the emails from postmaster@companyB.com going to mail@companyA.com , does anyone have any idea how to achieve this????

When trying to send mail to a particular domain I get the following error: 554 5.7.1 Unable to verify sender address.
I know the email address I am using is correct because I can send to it from my hotmail account. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks

I have SBS2008 with Exchange 2007. I have a need to programmatically create admin profiles, and I always get the WSAECONNRESET error. Here is what I have tried:

1. Given full access to all mailboxes to an account that this an Exchange Organization administrator. I've done it a bunch of ways, and I've also executed these shell scripts:

Get-Mailbox -Server "FBSSBS2008" | Add-MailboxPermission -User fbs -AccessRights FullAccess
Add-ADPermission -Identity "First Storage Group" -User "fssbs2k8.localfbs" -ExtendedRights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin

2. Tried all this with a non-admin as well

3.In Exchange Management console, recipient configuration, made sure fbs is not hidden from Exchange address lists

4. I noticed that the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service logs on as Local System. I have read that that can cause this error, so I tried to set the service to log on as fbs, but when I do that, I always get this error on startup: "The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated with service-specific error 0 (0x0)."

Is there a reason the service won't start this way, and is this even the issue? Maybe that's not the right service that creates profiles?

Anyway, I don't know what else to try. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

I have a fresh install of Win 7 and MS Office 2010.  When I try to open an MS Word document that has been sent as an attachment in Outlook 2010 it will not open and I get the error message "Word experienced an error trying to open the file" and it goes on to give suggestions of what to try.  I have tried using the repair option with no luck and I have tried .doc and .docx files and neither open.  I have sent the same files to my office computer that does open them properly so I don't think the file is really corrupt.  I have tried opening the files emulating various versions of Word with no luck.  It mentioned using a Text converter but I haven't been able to locate this option for Word 2010.  I just tried to open an Excel file too and it also gave a file corrupt cannot open error.  I have also tried repairing my Office installation and nothing changed.  Very frustrating....HELP!
